Key Specifications and Manufacturing

The BMW F 450 GS features a 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. This engine produces 48bhp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Standard features include a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.

BMW Motorrad designed and developed the F 450 GS in Germany. However, TVS Motor Company will exclusively manufacture the motorcycle at its Hosur facility in India. This marks a significant collaboration between the two companies for the Indian market.

Design, Features, and Variants

The F 450 GS adopts design cues from BMW's flagship adventure motorcycles. It offers the brand’s signature ADV styling in a more compact and accessible form. The motorcycle is expected to include long-travel suspension, with USD front forks and a rear monoshock. Riders will have the option to adjust the suspension for both on-road and off-road conditions.

The bike will use a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, both fitted with dual-purpose tyres. BMW Motorrad is likely to offer the F 450 GS in four variants: Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and GS Trophy. The GS Trophy variant will focus more on off-road performance, featuring tubeless wire-spoke wheels, specialized tyres, and enhanced electronic aids.

Market Position and Competition

The BMW F 450 GS will be positioned as a premium model in the sub-500cc adventure motorcycle segment. The expected starting price is above Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the F 450 GS will compete with established rivals in the category, offering advanced features and multiple variants to appeal to a range of riders.
