The Indian automotive market is shifting towards the revised pricing across the portfolio. With the introduction of the all-new GST 2.0 by the government of India, all two-wheelers with an engine capacity of 350 cc or less are placed under the 18% tax slab. However, the motorcycles above 350 cc are now considered to be for the 40% tax slab.
As a premium motorcycle brand, BMW Motorrad has unveiled a major update to its price list in response to the GST 2.0 reforms, effective from September 22, 2025. After the implementation of the new GST 2.0 tax regime, the pricing of the bike was reshaped across the portfolio. These changes align with BMW Motorrad’s strategy for competitive positioning, making select models more accessible.
GST 2.0: Impact on BMW Pricing
The rollout of the new GST 2.0 tax regime in 2025 has had a profound effect on the pricing strategy of premium motorcycle brands, like BMW and Ducati. BMW Motorrad India has particularly focused on leveraging this tax reform to enhance its sub-350 cc model, as these now attract an 18% GST rate. However, motorcycles above 350 cc now carry a much heavier tax burden at 40%, causing sudden price hikes.
Talking about the revised prices after the post-GST 2.0 tax regime on BMW bikes, only the BMW G 310 RR and BMW C 400 GT models were revealed with certain price rate cuts after the GST 2.0 tax slab. Alas, every other model registers a price hike. The M 1000 XR gets a maximum price hike of Rs 3.13 lakh in India.
BMW G 310 RR & BMW C 400 GT: Now Gets More Affordable
The BMW G 310 RR, the only 312 cc model left under BMW’s portfolio, surpasses the recent GST 2.0 benefits. The bike enjoys a price reduction of Rs 24,000, making it one of the most affordable BMW bikes under the portfolio. The bike now comes at an affordable price of Rs 2.81 lakh in India.
Another bike that got affordable after the post-GST 2.0 is the luxurious BMW C 400 GT. The bike is powered by a 350 cc engine that offers exhilarating performance. With the GST 2.0 price imposed on the bike, the price of the bike got reduced by Rs 92,000, making it notably more accessible in the premium segment.

Other BMW Models: Price Increase Following GST Hike

As the two BMW bikes are now affordable for the Indian customers, the larger engine capacity bikes are now poised to be placed under the 40% tax slab. This has led to increased prices across most of the brand’s iconic big bikes, impacting models such as the S 1000 RR, R 1250 GS, and F 900 R. These price increases reflect the significant tax increase for premium displacement categories.

Outlook for Premium Buyers
With GST 2.0, BMW Motorrad’s pricing strategy now offers targeted value for the sub-350cc niche, giving budget-conscious aspirants access to the exclusive BMW badge while demanding a premium from aficionados of larger capacity motorcycles. This is a crucial phase for BMW in India, positioning it for both volume and prestige despite the regulatory shake-up.
Conclusion
BMW Motorrad’s GST 2.0 pricing realignment delivers unprecedented value for sub-350cc buyers, while shifting big bike ownership further upmarket. The reforms boost brand accessibility, yet they reinforce BMW’s exclusivity for larger, aspirational models in India’s evolving premium motorcycle landscape.
