Cummins India Q4 profit surges to Rs 650 crore on strong domestic demand

Cummins India Ltd reported a profit after tax of Rs 650 crore for the quarter ended March 31. Strong domestic demand, cost discipline, and operating efficiencies supported this performance. Total sales for the quarter reached Rs 2,963 crore, marking a 23% increase from the same period last year. However, sales were 1% lower compared to the previous quarter.

Quarterly Financial Performance

Domestic sales remained the main growth driver for Cummins India. The company reported domestic sales of Rs 2,513 crore in Q4FY26, up 30% year-on-year. Compared to the previous quarter, domestic sales declined by 1%. Export sales faced challenges, standing at Rs 450 crore, which was 6% lower year-on-year and 5% lower sequentially.

Profit before tax, before exceptional items, reached Rs 820 crore in Q4FY26. This figure was 20% higher than the same quarter last year and 14% higher than the previous quarter. The company reported a PBT margin of 27.7% for the quarter. Net profit margin stood at 21.9%.

Shveta Arya, Managing Director of Cummins India Ltd., stated that the company ended FY26 with record revenue and profitability. She attributed this to strong customer demand in both domestic and export markets. Arya highlighted the company's ability to leverage a globally integrated supply chain and agile operating framework to meet demand.

Full-Year Results and Outlook

For the full year FY26, Cummins India reported total sales of Rs 11,950 crore, up 18% from the previous year. Domestic sales rose 19% to Rs 9,961 crore, while export sales increased 12% to Rs 1,989 crore. Profit before tax, before exceptional items, stood at Rs 3,104 crore, up 24% year-on-year. The PBT margin for the year was 26%. Profit after tax increased 22% to Rs 2,330 crore.

The company noted that domestic demand remains steady, supported by continued investments and capital expenditure across key sectors. However, it flagged near-term pressure in export markets. Cummins India expects the export environment to face challenges in the short term but remains optimistic about medium- to long-term stability and growth.

Arya commented that India’s macroeconomic environment remains resilient, supported by government initiatives and steady economic activity. She also noted that rising crude oil and commodity prices, along with global geopolitical uncertainties, are key factors to monitor.
