Engineering and Design Details

VIDA NEX 2 Design Patent

The patent describes the VIDA NEX 2 as a 'three-wheel electric motorcycle with storage compartment.' This suggests that the area typically used for a fuel tank may serve as a storage space. The front suspension is complex, allowing the trike to lean into corners like a standard two-wheeler. This system, combined with the self-balancing hardware, adds engineering sophistication to the vehicle.

The advanced technology and unique features could place the NEX 2 in a premium price segment if it enters production. The trike's design and features position it as a potential first in the Indian market from a mass-market manufacturer.

Key Features of Vida NEX 2

The Vida NEX 2 features a self-balancing system that stabilizes the vehicle at low speeds and when stationary. This technology is designed to improve safety and convenience for riders in city environments. The design patent reveals a silhouette similar to theYamaha Niken, with a seating position like a conventional motorcycle. Unlike scooter-based trikes, the NEX 2 does not have a flat footboard.

The bodywork includes large side panels, a prominent windscreen, and a round display, which is likely a TFT unit. The rear wheel receives power through a belt drive, and the number plate is mounted on the swingarm. Both front wheels are equipped with disc brakes, enhancing braking performance and stability.

Vida Novus Sub-Brand and Future Plans

The NEX 2 is part of Hero MotoCorp's broader Vida Novus sub-brand. At EICMA 2025, the company also unveiled the NEX 1 personal mobility device and the NEX 3 compact electric car. However, Hero MotoCorp has not confirmed production plans for any of these Novus concepts, including the NEX 2.

If launched, the Vida NEX 2 could create a new segment for electric trikes in India. The company has not provided a timeline or further details about production. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
