Design and Features

The patent images reveal a sporty electric scooter with angular styling and large, chunky tyres. The tyres appear to be mounted on 14-inch rims. Several design elements match the Viper, including the tapered handlebar, mirrors, flush mount pillion footpegs, and angular tail section. The scooter also features a five-spoke alloy wheel design, a hub-mounted motor, and a front disc brake.

There are some visual differences compared to the Viper. The most significant change is at the front, where the new scooter uses a twin-pod headlight setup instead of the Viper's single-piece angular headlight. The body panels on the new model are more rounded, while the Viper has sharper, angular panels. These similarities and differences suggest the new scooter could be a facelifted or updated version of the Viper, but this has not been confirmed by VinFast.

Technical Specifications and Market Plans

VinFast has not released technical specifications for the new scooter. The current-generation Viper, listed on VinFast’s Vietnamese website, features a 4.8 kWh battery and a 3 kW motor. It is unclear if the new scooter will use the same powertrain or if it will be modified for the Indian market.

VinFast has previously announced plans to develop electric scooters specifically for India. The new design patent could represent one of these India-focused models. However, the company has not provided a timeline for the launch of its first electric scooter in India.

Industry Context

The Indian electric scooter market is growing rapidly, with several manufacturers introducing new models. Bajaj recently announced that sales of its Chetak electric scooter have crossed the 800,000 unit milestone. VinFast’s entry into the market could increase competition and offer more choices to consumers.

CarBike 360 Says

VinFast’s design patent filing adds fresh momentum to its India plans and suggests the brand is preparing to widen its EV portfolio beyond cars. While the company has not officially confirmed a launch, the patent strongly hints at an upcoming electric scooter for the Indian market. If introduced, it could make the two-wheeler segment more competitive and give buyers another interesting new option.
