Key Highlights

  • Bajaj Chetak surpasses 8 lakh cumulative sales since launch in January 2020.
  • Bajaj ranks third among electric two-wheeler manufacturers after Ola Electric and TVS Motor.
  • Chetak achieved 211,356 unit sales in the first half of 2026 with 22 percent market share.
  • Bajaj is projected to cross 4 lakh unit sales in a single year by the end of 2026.

Sales Growth and Market Position

Bajaj Auto also produces electric vehicles for Yulu, a leading last-mile mobility provider in India. Bajaj has supplied an estimated 30,000 low-speed electric two-wheelers to Yulu. Both Chetak and Yulu models are manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan and Akurdi plants, which have a combined annual capacity of 4.80 lakh units.

In the early years, Bajaj Chetak sales were slow due to a developing market and a limited EV-specific sales network. However, demand surged in 2024, with over 2 lakh units delivered, representing a 168 percent year-on-year increase compared to 75,112 units in 2023. This performance placed Bajaj Auto at the No. 3 position in the market, behind Ola Electric (277,610 units) and TVS Motor Co. (177,024 units).

In 2025, Bajaj’s sales rose by 39 percent year-on-year to 279,685 units. This achievement moved Bajaj to the No. 2 spot among electric two-wheeler manufacturers, trailing TVS (315,087 units) and ahead of Ather Energy (214,985 units).

June 2026 marked several milestones for the electric two-wheeler industry. TVS Motor Co. became the second manufacturer to reach 1 million sales. Ather Energy crossed 7 lakh unit retail sales, and Greaves Electric Mobility exceeded 3 lakh unit retail sales. TVS iQube production also surpassed 1 million units.
