New Vida Electric Scooter Details
The upcoming Hero Vida electric scooter will feature a fixed battery pack, responding to consumer preference for this setup. The new model is expected to use a 3.8 kWh battery pack and will be priced below Rs 1 lakh. This pricing aims to make the scooter accessible to a broader range of buyers.
Hero MotoCorp’s earlier Vida V2 range targeted the premium segment and had higher pricing. In 2025, the company introduced more affordable Vida models and offered a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme. These steps led to steady sales growth for the Vida brand.
Hero MotoCorp will also introduce other electric models in 2027, including the Vida Ubex and the Lynx off-road bike. The company is expanding its product lineup to cater to different market segments and user preferences.
Production Expansion and Market Growth
To support increasing demand, Hero MotoCorp will boost its annual production capacity from 3.3 lakh units to 6.6 lakh units by 2027. The company’s Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, facility currently produces 1.48 lakh units, with plans to increase this to 2.8 lakh units by the end of FY2027.
Hero MotoCorp is also working to make its electric vehicles available at more locations across India. The company’s efforts align with the rapid growth of the electric two-wheeler segment, which now accounts for 6.5% of overall two-wheeler sales in FY2026, up from 6.1% the previous year.
In April 2027, electric two-wheeler sales reached 1,48,677 units, a 61% increase from 92,536 units in April 2025. Hero Vida ranked fourth in April 2027, selling 15,230 units, a 148% year-on-year increase from 6,150 units in April 2025. Vida currently holds a 10% market share in the electric two-wheeler segment.
Outlook for Hero MotoCorp
Hero MotoCorp’s strategy focuses on introducing new electric models and expanding production to meet growing demand. The company’s efforts aim to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly evolving electric two-wheeler market.
CarBike 360 Says
Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming Vida electric scooter under ₹1 lakh could be a game-changer in India’s budget EV segment. With competitive pricing, practical features, and Hero’s strong service network, it has the potential to attract a wide audience.
