Vida VX2 Introduce BaaS

Hero MotoCorp has once again come into the limelight by making a significant move in the electric two-wheeler market. The company has just revealed an introductory offer on its latest electric scooter, the Vida VX2. You can now buy your electric scooter for Rs 15,000 less than its original price. With this announcement, the electric two-wheeler market has been shaken up, as the pricing of the Vida VX2 was very competitive to begin with. However, as the prices are dropping for both variants and the BaaS variant, the scooter is now more affordable than its competitors.

With such a limited-time offer, the Vida VX2 Go variant will be available for now for as low as Rs 44,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This price will be the same when purchased with the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This aggressive pricing strategy is set to make electric mobility more accessible and appealing to tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

Hero Vida VX2 Sets New Benchmark for Electric Two-Wheelers in India

With the introduction of BaaS pricing, the Hero Vida VX2 sets a new benchmark for the electric two-wheeler in the market. This type of approach or proceeding reduces the actual purchase cost for customers. This introductory offer might prove to be the upper hand for Hero over its competitors that offer battery subscriptions.

As in the competitive market, where brand power shows more precision, Hero’s decision to reduce the Vida VX2 price by Rs 15,000 positions it as one of the most affordable and feature-rich electric scooters in India. The move is expected to increase competition among challenging rivals such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, and Ola S1.

Vida VX2 Pricing Details

Vida VX2 Plus

The all-new Vida VX2 is Hero MotoCorp’s latest entry in the electric scooter segment. The company aimed for the scooter to offer top-notch features and for the ride quality to be more comfortable than regular petrol variant scooters. The scooter will be available in two variants, the Vida VX2 Go and VX2 Plus.

The base variant is the Vida VX2 Go that costs around Rs 85,000 with an introductory offer. The actual launch price was around Rs 99,490. The top variant is the VX2 Plus, which will cost an introductory price of Rs 1 lakh, from Rs 1.10 lakh. However, VX2 Go BaaS will be offered at the price of Rs 45,000, and VX2 Plus BaaS will be priced at Rs 58,000.

Battery-as-a-Service: Reducing Entry Barriers for EV Business

Hero’s new business tentative will soon be followed by other automotive competitors as well. The BaaS method is very helpful for electric vehicle firms for the ease of doing business. The introduction of the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model is a first among Indian two-wheeler OEMs. In this business model, instead of purchasing the battery upfront, buyers can now pay a much lower initial price and subscribe to a battery plan according to their needs.

Advantages of BaaS:

The following are the advantages of BaaS:
  • Flexible Battery Subscription: Customers pay for the scooter chassis and rent the battery, significantly reducing the actual cost of the scooter.
  • Ideal for Business Fleets on EVs: For businesses running or delivering EV services, this model means lower capital expenditure and predictable running costs.
  • Ownership Transfer: At the end of the subscription period, full ownership of the battery is transferred to the customer.

Conclusion

This strategy of reducing the price segments of two-wheeler electric scooters will surely make a positive impact on sales figures and will be more appealing to buyers. With such a limited-period offer, buyers should take advantage of such an offer.
