Yamaha NMax 155 design patent filed in India, expected to launch in 2027
Yamaha’s NMax 155 has reportedly been patented in India, strengthening expectations of a premium scooter launch by 2027.

Yamaha has taken a significant step toward launching the NMax 155 in India by 2027. The recent publication of a design patent for the maxi-scooter in India supports earlier reports about its introduction. This move signals Yamaha’s intent to expand its scooter lineup in the Indian market.
Key Highlights
- Yamaha files a design patent for the NMax 155 in India.
- NMax 155 uses a 155 cc engine producing 15 HP and 14 Nm torque.
- Features include Bluetooth, a TFT display, and dual-channel ABS internationally.
- NMax offers 25 liters of under-seat storage and weighs 135 kg with a full tank.
Dimensions and Storage
The NMax 155 has a 5.5-liter fuel tank, smaller than the Aerox’s 7.1-liter tank. Despite the smaller tank, the NMax weighs about 135 kg with a full tank, which is approximately 10 kg heavier than the Aerox. The under-seat storage capacity is 25 liters, which is slightly more than the Aerox’s 24.5 litres and the Hero Xoom 160.
Features and Equipment
In international markets, the Yamaha NMax 155 comes with several advanced features. These include a 4.2-inch colour TFT display with Bluetooth compatibility, keyless ignition, and all-LED lighting. The scooter also has an idle stop-start system and two front storage cubbies—one open and one enclosed. Safety features include a rear disc brake and dual-channel ABS. These features are not available on the India-spec Aerox.
It is not yet confirmed if Yamaha will offer the same features on the India-spec NMax 155. The company has not released further details about the final equipment list for the Indian market. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Engine and Performance Details
The Yamaha NMax 155 features a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 15 HP at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The same engine powers the Yamaha Aerox, which is already compliant with E20 fuel standards. It is expected that the NMax 155 will also meet these standards when launched in India.
The NMax 155 uses 13-inch wheels, which are smaller than the 14-inch wheels on the Aerox. The scooter has a seat height of 770 mm, lower than the Aerox’s 790 mm. Its wheelbase measures 1,340 mm, slightly shorter than the Aerox. The NMax offers 125 mm of ground clearance, compared to the Yamaha Aerox.
