Key Highlights
- Honda sold 5,12,303 two-wheelers in March 2026, marking 27.82 percent year-on-year growth
- Activa led sales with 2,59,670 units contributing over 50 percent of Honda's domestic volume
- Scooters and entry-level motorcycles drove growth while electric and some premium models declined
Key Sales Figures and Model Performance
The Honda Activa remained the company's top-selling model, with 2,59,670 units sold in March 2026. This is a 36.86% increase from 1,89,735 units in March 2025. Activa accounted for over 50% of Honda's domestic sales, confirming its dominance in the scooter segment.
The Shine 125 and SP125 models together recorded 1,46,657 units, showing an 8.33% year-on-year growth. These two models contributed 28.63% of total sales, making them essential to Honda's volume strategy.
The Dio, including Dio 125, posted 31,180 units, up 85.25% year-on-year. This model has become one of Honda's fastest-growing scooters, attracting younger buyers.
The Shine 100 sold 26,441 units, a 67.78% increase from the previous year, reflecting strong demand in the budget commuter segment. The Unicorn also performed well, with 34,358 units sold, up 17.01% year-on-year, maintaining its position in the 150-160cc category.
The CB350 saw significant growth, selling 4,365 units compared to 1,179 units last year, a 270.23% increase. This shows rising interest in mid-size retro motorcycles. The newly introduced Hornet 125 contributed 3,624 units in its initial phase. H’ness 350 and CB350RS together sold 2,523 units, up 7.18% year-on-year, though their volumes remain lower than mass-market models.
Declining Models and Market Trends
Some models experienced declines. Livo sales dropped to 2,073 units, a 61.45% decrease year-on-year. SP160 fell to 498 units, down 63.52%. CB200X and Hornet 2.0 also saw declines of over 50%.
Honda's electric scooter QC1 recorded 308 units, down from 1,996 units last year. This indicates weak demand for the current electric offering. Honda is reportedly developing new electric models better suited for India. Currently, Honda's EV sales lag behind competitors like TVS, Bajaj, and Ather, who together sell over 1 lakh electric scooters monthly.
On a month-on-month basis, Honda's sales remained stable. March 2026 sales were 5,12,303 units, slightly below February's 5,13,217 units, a marginal 0.18% decline. Activa and Shine continued to grow, while Shine 100, Hornet 125, and SP160 saw sequential declines.
Outlook for Honda's Two-Wheeler Segment
Honda's March 2026 results highlight the importance of core models like Activa and Shine in driving growth. Scooters remain the company's main strength, contributing the largest share of sales. The company faces mixed results in premium and niche segments, with some models growing and others declining. Honda plans to expand its commuter and scooter lineup and strengthen its mid-size and electric vehicle portfolio to sustain growth in India.
CarBike 360 Says
The March 2026 sales figures reinforce Honda’s stronghold in the scooter space, with Activa continuing to anchor its success. As consumer preference shifts toward convenience and urban mobility, scooters are becoming increasingly important. Honda appears well-positioned to capitalize on this trend, ensuring sustained growth while maintaining a balanced presence in the motorcycle segment.
