Honda has unveiled the ADV160 in India, marking its first adventure-inspired maxi-scooter for the country. The ADV160 stands out as one of the first scooters in India to feature E85 flex-fuel compliance, allowing it to run on an ethanol blend of up to 85 percent and 15 percent petrol. Honda confirmed that the ADV160 will be manufactured locally and exported 100 per cent, which is expected to help control costs.
Key Highlights
- Honda unveils the ADV160 maxi-scooter in India with E85 flex-fuel compliance.
- ADV160 features single-channel ABS, traction control and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity.
- Powered by a 157 cc liquid-cooled engine producing 16.3 HP and 14.9 Nm torque.
- ADV160 will be locally manufactured and exported to international markets.
Key Features and Specifications
The Honda ADV160 will be available through both Honda Red Wing and premium Big Wing showrooms across India. The scooter includes several advanced features such as single-channel ABS, Honda Selectable Torque Control (traction control), and a TFT instrument display with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity. Additional features include a USB charging socket and a spacious 27-litre under-seat storage compartment.
Exterior Design
Design elements include a tall adjustable windscreen, twin LED headlamps, and block-pattern tyres, giving the ADV160 a look similar to a scaled-down version of Honda's X-ADV. The scooter uses a telescopic fork at the front and twin rear shock absorbers, with a 14-inch front wheel and a 13-inch rear wheel setup.
Engine and Performance
The ADV160 is powered by a 157cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 16.3 HP and 14.9 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a CVT automatic transmission. The scooter weighs 133 kg and offers a seat height of 780mm, ground clearance of 165mm, and an 8.1-litre fuel tank capacity.
The E85 flex-fuel compliance is a significant feature, making the ADV160 one of the first scooters in India capable of running on high ethanol blends. This aligns with broader efforts to introduce more environmentally friendly vehicles in the country.
Launch and Availability
Honda has only unveiled the ADV160 so far, with the official launch timeline set to be announced later. The company has stated that the scooter will be locally manufactured and exported, which should help keep its pricing competitive in the Indian market.
