Honda will launch the ADV160 maxi-scooter in India within the next two quarters, confirming earlier reports. The company is working on localizing the ADV160 for the Indian market, with the launch expected either by late 2026 or early 2027. This move will expand Honda’s presence in the sub-200cc maxi-scooter segment, which currently has limited options with liquid-cooled engines.
Key Highlights
- Honda ADV160 India launch set for late 2026 or early 2027
- A 157 cc liquid-cooled engine produces 16 HP and 14.7 Nm torque
- Features include digital dash, keyless ignition, and adjustable windscreen
- ADV160 to be locally manufactured and retailed via Honda BigWing network
ADV160 Engine and Mechanical Details
The Honda ADV160 is powered by a 157cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 16 HP at 8,500 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The ADV160 uses an underbone frame with a prominent spine section, similar to the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160. Due to this design, there is no storage space on the floorboard, but the scooter offers 27 liters of under-seat storage. Additionally, a 2-liter cubby with a USB charger is available on the front apron.
The suspension system includes a 31mm telescopic fork with 129mm of travel at the front and twin shock absorbers with 100mm of travel at the rear, both supplied by Showa. Braking is managed by a 240mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum. The ADV160 also features single-channel ABS, matching its segment rivals.
Dimensions, Features, and Market Positioning

The ADV160 runs on a 14-inch front wheel and a 13-inch rear wheel, differing from the 14-inch wheels at both ends found on some competitors. The seat height is 780mm, and ground clearance stands at 165mm, making it suitable for Indian road conditions. The scooter weighs 133 kg, which is 7 kg heavier than the Aerox 155 but 9 kg lighter than the Xoom 160. The fuel tank capacity is 8.1 litres, higher than its main competitors.
Feature highlights include a digital dashboard, keyless ignition, start/stop technology, all-LED lighting, an adjustable windscreen, and a USB charger. The US-spec ADV160 offers a two-position adjustable windscreen, which could be a segment-first if included in the Indian version.
Honda plans to fully manufacture the ADV160 in India for both domestic and export markets. This local production is expected to help keep prices competitive. The scooter will likely be sold through Honda’s BigWing network, marking the brand’s entry into this displacement category at these outlets.
It remains unclear if the Indian ADV160 will receive unique styling changes. The pricing strategy and final feature set will be confirmed closer to the launch date.
