The Indian two-wheeler market is shifting towards the new iteration of prices after the proposal of new GST tax reforms. Many brands have welcomed this new tax reform and are ready to surpass the benefits of GST 2.0 across the lineup. Honda Motorcycles & Scooter India (HMSI) has also announced that they are also gearing up to pass the full benefits of the recent GST reduction in price rates across the nation.
This move will allow Honda to reduce the prices of its scooters and motorcycles across the portfolio with effect from September 22, 2025. Under the new tax regime, all scooters and motorcycles having engine capacities up to 350 cc will be taxed under the 18% tax slab instead of 28% in India. This initiative will attract more buyers frequently to buy new Honda models in the upcoming festive season.
GST Reform Impact on Honda Motorcycle Prices
According to the report proposed by the 56th GST Council Meeting held in Parliament, a new GST 2.0 tax regime will be implemented in the Indian automotive landscape. This revised GST tax structure has categorized two-wheelers into two different tax slabs based on engine displacement. The first will be about those bikes and scooters that have an engine displacement of less than or equal to 350 cc, which will be taxed under the 18% GST slab.
The others are those motorcycles and scooters that have an engine displacement above 350 cc, which will be taxed under the flat 40% GST slab. Honda has immediately implemented price cuts for its sub-350 cc portfolio, including highly popular models, to give the benefit of the GST advantage to Indian consumers.
