The sixth-generation Hyundai Verna has received a model-year update three years after its launch. Hyundai now offers the sub-compact sedan in six variants: HX 2, HX 4, HX 6, HX 6+, HX 8, and HX 10. The HX 4 variant stands out as a balanced choice for buyers seeking essential features and modern styling at a competitive price. Hyundai has priced the HX 4 at Rs 12.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
Key Highlights
- Hyundai Verna HX 4 variant priced at Rs 12.25 lakh ex showroom
- HX 4 features connected LED DRL and LED tail lights with 15 inch alloy wheels
- Includes electric sunroof touchscreen infotainment and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Standard safety kit includes six airbags ESC and tyre pressure monitoring system
- 1.5 litre petrol engine with manual transmission only in HX 4 variant
Key Exterior and Interior Changes

The HX 4 variant offers several visual upgrades over the base HX 2. While it retains halogen headlights, it features a signature connected LED DRL at the front. The 15-inch silver alloy wheels and shark fin antenna enhance its side profile. At the rear, the connected LED tail lights and a boot spoiler contribute to a sportier look. The HX 4 does not include LED headlights or chrome inserts, but it avoids the basic appearance of lower variants.
Inside, the HX 4 variant introduces a dual-tone theme, standard for the NA petrol engine lineup. A touchscreen infotainment system now occupies the dashboard, improving both aesthetics and functionality. The electric single-pane sunroof, available from this variant onwards, brings more light into the cabin. Fabric seat upholstery, a new morse code steering wheel with mounted controls, and LED map lighting further enhance the interior experience.
Comfort, Convenience, and Safety Features

The HX 4 variant provides front adjustable headrests and adds a front central armrest with storage, complementing the standard rear central armrest. The driver benefits from tilt and telescopic steering adjustment and manual seat height adjustment. Functional features include all four power windows, auto AC with rear AC vents, front and rear Type-C charging ports, cruise control, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. Additional amenities such as idle start/stop, a cooled glovebox, and the electric sunroof are also present from this variant upward.
Entertainment features include an 8-inch touchscreen system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, and a sound system. The driver gets a semi-digital TFT cluster. The larger 10.25-inch infotainment system, available in higher variants, does not support in-built wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and requires an adapter.
Standard safety features across the Verna range include six airbags, hill-start assist, electronic stability program (ESC), rear defogger, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX mounts. The HX 4 adds a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Engine and Competition
The HX 4 variant comes with a single 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a manual transmission. The CVT automatic option starts from the HX 6 variant, while the turbo-petrol engine is reserved for the top two variants. The Hyundai Verna HX 4 competes with the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus in the sub-compact sedan segment.
