IIT Roorkee, IvyCap Ventures, and NuQuant have launched a Rs 1,000 crore Super Endowment Fund to support deep-tech research and startups. The announcement took place at Bharat Innovates 2026, a Government of India initiative under the Ministry of Education.

The fund aims to serve as a perpetual, self-sustaining capital source. Its primary goal is to strengthen India's innovation ecosystem and provide long-term support to deep-tech startups. The initiative will back research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology translation across the IIT network.
Fund Details and Objectives
The Super Endowment Fund targets a corpus of approximately ₹1,000 crore. It will support research and innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, critical minerals, quantum computing, clean energy, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, the circular economy, and agritech.
The fund was announced during Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France. This event serves as a platform for India to invite global universities, research organizations, investors, philanthropists, and industry leaders to collaborate. Sectors of focus include climate technologies, energy systems, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, critical minerals, and healthcare.
IIT Roorkee stated that the initiative builds on its 175-year history. The institute aims to mobilize contributions from alumni, philanthropic donors, corporations, and institutions. The fund is expected to provide long-term support for research and innovation activities within the IIT network.
Management and Participation
IvyCap Ventures will manage the endowment. The firm is known for pioneering institution-linked endowment models in India. IvyCap Ventures said the fund structure will help Indian institutions generate intellectual property from campus-based research.
IIT Roorkee and IvyCap Ventures are inviting alumni, corporate leaders, philanthropists, institutional investors, global universities, and other strategic partners to participate in the initiative. The goal is to create a broad base of support for deep-tech innovation and entrepreneurship.
IvyCap Ventures is one of India's largest homegrown venture capital firms. It works closely with the IIT–IIM alumni ecosystem to support early-stage companies. In 2019, IvyCap Ventures established India's first university endowment fund at IIT Delhi. The firm channels a share of fund manager profits back to IITs and IIMs through endowments.

IIT Roorkee is an institute of national importance. It offers education in engineering, sciences, management, architecture and planning, and humanities and social sciences. Established in 1847, the institute has contributed significantly to India's technical workforce and expertise over its long history.
