Tata Motors today launched the much‑awaited Tata Sierra EV in India, marking the comeback of one of the brand’s most beloved nameplates in a modern electric SUV form. Positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in Tata’s EV lineup, the all-new Sierra EV aims at buyers stepping up from compact electric crossovers into a more premium, lifestyle-oriented SUV for Indian roads.

The 2026 Tata Sierra EV arrives with rear‑wheel‑drive and all‑wheel‑drive options. To remove the range anxiety, the Sierra EV arrives with a 75 kWh and 65 kWh battery pack, clearly targeting mainstream EV adopters rather than niche early adopters while taking direct aim at upcoming rivals like the Mahindra BE06, Hyundai Creta electric, and MG ZS EV.

Exterior Design and Styling

The new 2026 Tata Sierra EV carries the original ICE Sierra’s iconic silhouette, retaining its strong shoulder line and upright stance while adding contemporary LED lighting, flush door handles, and aero-optimized wheels. It’s built on Tata’s Acti.ev‑plus architecture, which also underpins the Harrier EV, allowing Tata to share components while giving the Sierra EV a distinct, more lifestyle‑oriented personality.

It also includes Tata EV badging on the front doors, new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, revised front and rear skid plates, an integrated spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, and Sierra EV lettering on the tailgate.

Interiors and Premium Features

Inside, the Tata Sierra EV leans heavily on a tech-forward cabin experience, with higher variants expected to feature a triple-screen setup: a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger display integrated into a clean, horizontal dashboard layout. Recent teasers also confirm a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, and six terrain modes.

Additional features include boost mode, an air purifier, a JBL music system with Dolby Atmos, a head-up display, rear sunblinds, boss mode, iRA connected car technology, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Battery, Range and Performance

Under the skin, Tata is offering the Sierra EV with two lithium-ion battery packs, 65 kWh and 75 kWh, paired with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (Quad Wheel Drive) configurations depending on the variant. The bigger battery is expected to be mated to the dual-motor QWD setup, which Tata has already teased tackling sandy desert trails and off-road scenarios, underlining the SUV’s lifestyle and adventure.

Exact ARAI-claimed figures are yet to be formally detailed at the time of writing, but with the Harrier EV offering up to 627 km of range on a single charge using similar 65 kWh and 75 kWh packs, the Sierra EV is expected to comfortably offer about 655 km on a single charge. The top speed is listed between 160 and 170 km/h. Fast‑charging capability of up to around 120 kW DC is expected.

Tata’s Acti.ev platform brings support for Level 2 ADAS, vehicle-to-load (V2L), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) power transfer, and 5G-ready connectivity, so the Sierra EV is future-proofed for evolving software and safety updates.

Expected carryover features from the ICE Sierra include a JBL sound system, wireless smartphone integration and charger, TPMS, ESC, multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and the Arcade.ev app suite, all tuned to make long EV road trips more relaxed and entertaining.

Key safety features include six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, park assist, rear wiper and washer, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, acoustic vehicle alert system, and tyre pressure monitoring system. The Sierra EV is available in five variants. The QWD is offered exclusively in the Empowered A variant for an additional Rs. 1.20 lakh. A 7.2 kW AC fast charger can be purchased for Rs. 49,000.
