Kawasaki is making waves in the Indian superbike market again. According to the latest updates, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer is set to launch the Ninja 1100SX within the next two weeks. This motorcycle is an upgraded version of the Ninja 1000SX with a more powerful engine of 1099cc and added new features while maintaining the same iconic design as its predecessor. Let’s have an overview of the upgrades in detail.
Engine and Performance Improvements
The major upgrade of the Ninja 1100SX is its 1099cc engine, which replaces the previous 1043cc setup. The new engine has a stroke of 77mm x 59mm comparatively longer than the previous 77mm x 56mm. However, the power has been reduced by 4 hp to 136 hp, and the torque has been increased by 2 Nm. But, both peak power and torque delivery have been achieved at the lower RPMs which ultimately enhances the overall performance of the motorcycle. There are also minor adjustments in the 5th and 6th gearing for more efficient and comfortable long-distance rides.
Mechanical Updates
The Ninja 1100SX includes improvements such as a refined bi-directional quick shifter for better low RPM performance. In addition, the Kawasaki also claimed that the fuel efficiency of the newer version also improved. The bike also transitions from Bridgestone S22 tyres to the newer S23 compound which ultimately enhances bike control, grip, and handling.
Design and Features
Talking about the visuals, the Ninja 1100SX remains almost identical to the Ninja 1000SX, featuring the same sleek bodywork and split LED headlights. It retains a comprehensive suite of electronics including multiple riding modes, power modes, traction control, ABS, a bidirectional quick-shifter, and electronic cruise control. In addition, there is an all-new USB Type-C port added to the handlebar for convenient charging.
Pricing Expectations
The price of the new Ninja 1100SX is expected to be increased approximately by ₹75,000 to ₹1,00,000 from its predecessor 1000SX, which makes it around ₹13.19 lacs (ex-showroom). Currently, Kawasaki plans to launch only the standard variant of the Ninja 1100SX in India. However, the special edition variant with premium components like Brembo M4.32 front brakes and an Öhlins rear suspension will not be available initially.
In summary, with its larger engine and enhanced features with its iconic design, the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX will continue the legacy of its predecessor as a top choice for adventure-motorsport lovers in India.
