Kawasaki Ninja 500 launched in India with new lime green livery at Rs 5.76 lakh
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 arrives in India with a fresh lime green shade, premium styling, and refined performance at Rs 5.76 lakh.

Kawasaki has launched the 2026 Ninja 500 in India, introducing a new Lime Green livery. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 5.76 lakh, ex-showroom, which is Rs 10,000 higher than the previous model. The price increase reflects its status as a completely built-up (CBU) unit, resulting in higher import taxes.
Key Highlights
- The Kawasaki Ninja 500 was launched in India at Rs 5.76 lakh ex-showroom.
- New lime green livery is introduced for the 2026 model year.
- The model may be discontinued due to non-compliance with E20 fuel regulations.
Pricing and Market Position
The Ninja 500's price positions it as one of the more expensive motorcycles in its segment, given its engine displacement and features. The high cost is mainly due to import duties on CBU models. Competing motorcycles in the segment offer similar engine performance and often include more advanced technology. This makes the Ninja 500 less competitive on value when compared to its rivals.
Regulatory and Model Updates

The Kawasaki Ninja 500 may soon face discontinuation in India. It does not comply with E20 fuel regulations, which require compatibility with fuel containing 20% ethanol. The Indian government is pushing for higher ethanol blends to reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. Another model using the same engine as the Ninja 500 will also be discontinued once current stocks are sold.
For 2026, the only update to the Ninja 500 is the new lime green paint scheme. The motorcycle retains its core mechanical and feature set from the previous version.
Engine and Features
The Ninja 500 is powered by a 451cc parallel-twin engine. It comes with a six-speed gearbox and features an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear changes. The motorcycle is built on a lightweight trellis frame, which contributes to its handling and agility.
Suspension duties are managed by telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking is handled by a single disc at both the front and rear, with dual-channel ABS for added safety. The Ninja 500 does not offer advanced electronic rider aids but includes essential features such as an LCD console with smartphone connectivity and all-LED lighting.

It blends everyday usability with sporty performance, making it a practical yet exciting option. This launch further reinforces Kawasaki’s commitment to expanding its mid-capacity portfolio in the competitive Indian two-wheeler market.
