Kia is gearing up to expand the Carens Clavis ICE portfolio under its nameplate for the Indian market. The brand has recently introduced the all-new Carens Clavis HTE (EX) variant, which has hit Indian roads, blending value-packed upgrades with the MPV's signature style. Launched on January 15, 2026, it targets families craving more without the premium price increase.
What’s New in the Variant?
Buyers get noticeable leaps in comfort and specs. An electric skylight sunroof debuts on the G1.5 petrol, paired with fully automatic temperature control (FATC) for effortless cabin climate management. The exterior features LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and position lamps, while inside, LED cabin lamps brighten the nights, and the driver's power window offers auto up and down functionality for added safety.
These touches mirror feedback from Indian families, who prioritize convenience in versatile MPVs. Along with the introduction of an electric sunroof, the HTE (EX) trims now come with several updated features to make driving easier and more comfortable.
Kia Carens Clavis: Pricing Breakdown

The HTE (EX) variant sharpens Kia's competitive edge in the MPV space. The brand positioned the all-new HTE (EX) trim above the current HTE (O) variant and offered it under three petrol powertrain units.
- HTE (EX) G1.5 petrol (7-seater): Priced at Rs 12.54 Lakh
- HTE (EX) G1.5 turbo-petrol (7-seater): Priced at Rs 13.41 Lakh
- HTE (EX) D1.5 Diesel (7-seater): Priced at Rs 14.52 Lakh
These rates position it below higher trims like HTK, appealing to budget-conscious buyers seeking substance. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom, India.
Strategic Market Move
Atul Sood, Kia India Senior VP of Marketing & Sales, emphasized customer-centric evolution: "We're incorporating features families actively want, like the sunroof across powertrains." This expands the ICE Carens Clavis lineup post its 2025 debut, countering rivals like the Maruti Ertiga and upcoming MPV refreshes. With strong sales momentum, the all-new Carens Clavis is leading Kia volumes, boosting appeal in tier-2 and tier-3 cities where value rules.

Multiple Powertrain Options
Since only the specs and features are updated under the new trim level. No mechanical changes take place within the portfolio. The base variant comes with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces around 115 HP of maximum power, paired with a manual transmission setup.
Another engine is a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine that generates around 160 HP of peak power, and then comes a 1.5L diesel engine that produces 116 HP of peak power. Kia retains iMT and DCT options higher up, but HTE (EX) sticks to manuals for affordability.
Conclusion
As the Kia Carens Clavis HTE (EX) rolls out across India, it redefines family mobility with sunlit skies and smart features at an unbeatable price point. It ignites aspirations, turning everyday commutes into cherished journeys for millions of Indian households. Kia proves once more why it's mastering the art of value-driven innovation in the MPV arena.
