Kia Carens is the Name Given to Brand’s upcoming 7 seater MPV, Launch Soon

Kia India had announced during the introduction of 2021 Variants of Sonet and Seltos about their upcoming 7 seater vehicles. It was codenamed Kia KY and now the brand has revealed its name as Kia Carens. The brands defines the car’s name as a ccombination of “Car” and “Rennaince”, making it a Recreational Car for them.

Kia Carens house a lot of commonalities with Kia Seltos. Though it shares a lot of mechanical parts with Seltos including the platform, it will be a different looker than the ongoing model unlike Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Alcazar which look quick alike.

Kia Carens will have a sloping bonnet at the edge and a sloping rear roofline which makes it look as muscular as Seltos. It will be available in 6 and 7 seat configurations. As per the spy shots and teaser revealed by the brand, the vehicle will have a pair of solid roof rails and big alloy wheels. The LED DRLs have a unique 3 pointed styling along with another unit flowing across the front ends. While the front may look completely different from Seltos, the rear may share its style with Seltos. It will be targeted towards families and will be doing the talks with the likes of Mahindra XUV 700 and Tata Safari.

Under the hood, we may see a similar set of engines as seen on the donor vehicle. It may have a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 115PS/142Nm output and a 1.5-litre diesel mill with 115PS/250Nm output. While the teaser is already out, its world premiere is scheduled for the 16th of December 2021.
