Get the scoop on the highly anticipated Kia EV3, set to be unveiled worldwide. Learn about its expected launch in India by early 2025, and explore its specifications and features in detail.
Kia has unveiled the EV3, a compact electric SUV (ESUV), marking its fourth electric vehicle release following the EV9, EV6, and EV5. The EV3 will be available in two trim levels: the standard version with a 58.3kWh battery pack, and the long-range edition featuring an 81.4kWh battery pack, offering up to 600 km on the WLTP cycle. After its initial launch in the home market, the EV3 will be available globally, with an anticipated entry into the Indian market in early 2025.
The front of the Kia EV3 showcases vertical headlamps positioned at the outer edges, featuring a fresh interpretation of Kia's tiger face design integrated with the brand's latest star map signature lighting concept. Vertical Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) enhance its distinctive look.
The slightly sloping roofline and prominent rear spoiler are designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The EV3 also features aero-optimized wheels with a unique block-like design. The rear resembles the EV9, with a robust dual-tone bumper and sleek tailgate surfacing. GT-Line variants add sportier bumpers. The dimensions of the EV3 are 4,300mm in length, 1,850mm in width, 1,560mm in height, with a 2,680mm wheelbase, akin to the Hyundai Creta.
Kia offers the EV3 in nine body colors, including two exclusive shades: Aventurine Green and Terracotta.
The interior of the Kia EV3 mirrors the sleek design of the EV9. It features twin 12.3-inch floating infotainment screens with a strip of haptic buttons below, integrated seamlessly with discreet AC vents. The navigation and media controls are easily accessible, complemented by additional buttons on the two-spoke steering wheel. A notable feature is the 30-inch widescreen setup, including a 5-inch screen dedicated to climate controls, inherited from the EV9.
The EV3 boasts a flat floor maximizing interior space, with a spacious floating center console equipped with cup holders. The front center armrest hides a convenient retractable table. The driver's seat offers a 'relaxation mode,' allowing passengers to stretch out and enjoy streaming platforms or video games via the infotainment unit while the vehicle recharges.
Kia emphasizes the use of sustainable materials throughout the EV3's interior. The seats and roof lining are crafted from recycled PET bottles, the paint and dashboard incorporate biowaste, and the exterior cladding is made from recycled plastic from earlier Kia models.
The EV3 is equipped with a 12-inch heads-up display, customizable ambient lighting, advanced digital displays, a premium Harman Kardon sound system, and an ADAS suite for enhanced safety. Notably, the EV3 introduces Kia's pioneering personal AI assistant, set for gradual rollout across other EV models. It offers a spacious 460-liter trunk and an additional 25-liter frunk for added storage capacity.
Built on the E-GMP platform, the Kia EV3 comes with two battery options. The standard version features a 58.3kWh battery pack, while the Long-Range edition boasts an 81.4kWh battery pack. Both models have a front-axle-mounted electric motor delivering 201 hp and 283 Nm of torque, achieving a claimed 0-100 kph acceleration time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 170 kph.
The Long-Range variant of the EV3 can cover up to 600 km on the WLTP cycle. The batteries, sourced from LG Chem and operating on a 400V architecture, can charge from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes. While the flagship EV9 features an 800V EV architecture, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, and paddle shifters for regenerative braking, the EV3 focuses on efficiency and practical electric performance.
Kia's latest EV3 promises to be a significant addition to the compact electric SUV market, offering advanced features, sustainable materials, and impressive range options. With its expected launch in India in early 2025, the EV3 is poised to capture the interest of environmentally conscious consumers seeking a versatile and stylish electric vehicle.
