The revamped Kia Sonet: Bold design, advanced tech. Tomorrow's unveiling promises a new standard in sub-compact SUV excellence.

Kia India is gearing up to unveil the facelifted version of its popular sub-compact SUV, Sonet, at a premiere event that’s scheduled for tomorrow in Delhi. The Korean automaker has been building anticipation through teaser images and videos, hinting at significant updates to both the exterior and interior of the SUV. The 2024 Kia Sonet is expected to bring a fresh look and enhanced features, intensifying its competition in the sub-compact SUV segment against its rivals like Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Hyundai Venue.
Exterior Changes
The Sonet facelift will showcase a redesigned front fascia, featuring a distinctive parametric grille that’s complemented by new LED headlights and DRL units. The sides will boast revamped 16-inch alloy wheels, while the rear will see an updated LED taillights and the introduction of a connected LED strip, aligning it with the design of the recently launched Seltos. The leaked sources also suggest an extensive panel of 10 color options and a matte edition, including the eye-catching Pewter Olive exterior color theme.
Upgrades in Interior
Inside the cabin, the Sonet facelift is set to feature a dual-tone interior theme with refreshed upholstery. While the overall layout may remain familiar, expect a subtle tweak on the dashboard and center console covering new screens and additional features. Kia will also introduce a new 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, identical to the one that’s offered in the Seltos, providing an immersive and modern driving experience.

Features
Kia aims to elevate the Sonet's technological portion with the introduction of Level-1 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology. The SUV is anticipated to offer around 10 ADAS features, including collision warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and more. The feature list will also include a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and electrically-adjustable driver seats, enhancing both safety and comfort.
Engine and Transmission
The Sonet facelift will retain its existing lineup of petrol and diesel engines, with a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit generating 118 bhp of power and 172 Nm of torque. The engine will be coupled with either a six-speed iMT or seven-speed DCT gearbox, ensuring a dynamic and efficient driving experience. Additionally, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines will also continue to be available.
Price Expectations
As for pricing, the current Sonet starts at ₹7.79 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. With the facelift, the starting price is expected to hover around ₹7.50 lakh, maintaining its competitive stance in the market. The top-end variant, equipped with ADAS, is anticipated to breach the ₹15-lakh mark, offering a premium driving experience for buyers.
The much-anticipated Kia Sonet facelift aims to set new benchmarks in the sub-compact SUV segment, combining style, technology, and performance. Auto enthusiasts and potential buyers eagerly await the official unveiling tomorrow to witness the next evolution of this popular Kia model.
