Introduction

- The Tata Nexon is a symbol of Tata’s entry into the fiercely competitive subcompact SUV segment in India.
- The Nexon’s journey began in the 2014 Auto Expo as a prototype.
- The Nexon brought the coupe-inspired silhouette to the mainstream, characterised by a two-tone paint scheme (an industry first in its class at the time), sleek dual headlamps, and a strong chrome signature.
- At the launch, the Nexon offered two engine options in a partnership with AVL Austria, both designed to deliver power and efficiency for urban and highway use.
- The 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel engines were coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission, with a 6-speed AMT arriving shortly after.
- The Nexon also offered three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport.
- The Nexon featured technological features such as a floating touchscreen infotainment system developed with Harman.
Exterior Design

- The front fascia of the Nexon features bi-LED headlamps accompanied by sequential LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
- The grille blends seamlessly into the front, adorned with the Tata logo and finished off by sharp, sculpted lines.
- The distinctive body lines and pronounced wheel arches are evident on the side profile.
- The rising beltline and coupe-inspired roofline contribute to the sporty silhouette.
- Large, aero-efficient 16-inch alloy wheels fill out the arches with subtle cladding along the lower sills and wheel wells.
- The rear of the Nexon showcases Tata’s signature 'X' motif, which is synonymous with the model.
- The sleek LED tail lamps have daytime lighting and sequential "Welcome & Goodbye" lighting sequences.
- The roof flows smoothly into an integrated spoiler, and the tailgate features crisp character lines.
- The chunky rear bumper receives a finish in contrasting tones depending on the variant.
Interior Design

- Step inside the Nexon, and the interior greets its customers with multiple textures, such as soft-touch leatherette, brushed metal, piano black, and persona-specific hues.
- The Nexon’s dashboard features a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen system on higher variants, which is an upgrade from the 7-inch unit.
- A digitised cluster and HVAC controls operated by a sleek touch-based panel complement the infotainment.
- The two-spoke steering wheel stands out with an illuminated Tata logo, integrating tactile controls for infotainment, cruise, and more.
- The Nexon’s newly crafted Benecke-Kaliko ventilated leatherette chairs, found on premium variants, offer effective cooling.
- Both the driver and front passenger seats have height adjustment, which makes it easier to set an ideal posture.
- The cushioning in the Nexon is on the firmer end, yet it delivers excellent support for long journeys without inducing fatigue.
- The rear bench, with its extended base, increases under-thigh support; legroom and headroom are ample, even for taller occupants.
- The rear AC vents and a fold-down central armrest further add to passenger comfort.
- The Nexon offers over 30 discrete storage spaces within the cabin, deep door bins with umbrella holders, a cooled and illuminated glove box spacious enough for a tablet, a storage drawer under the front passenger’s seat, and a cleverly concealed central armrest box.
- Other highlights include sunglass holders, USB ports, and multiple power outlets, including one in the boot. The boot space measures up to 382 litres with a flat-folding rear seat (60:40 split).
