XEV 9e Crash Test

The highly anticipated XEV 9e and BE 6e have been presented by Mahindra & Mahindra, marking a major milestone in the company's Born Electric lineup. With an ex-showroom price of ₹21.90 lakh, the XEV 9e Pack One is scheduled to be on sale in January 2025, with deliveries starting in February. In addition to its debut, Mahindra demonstrated the XEV 9e's strong safety features at its Passive Safety Lab in Tamil Nadu by conducting a live crash test.

Mahindra XEV 9e Crash Test Observation

Mahindra conducted a 40% frontal offset crash test at 64 km/h under live conditions. Key observations include:

  • All airbags deployed effectively.
  • The cabin structure remained intact, ensuring minimal risk to occupants.
  • Test dummies sustained no visible damage, highlighting the vehicle's superior safety engineering.
  • The car's structure effectively absorbed and distributed crash forces, keeping the cabin safe.

Although this was not a GNCAP or BNCAP-certified test, the results underline Mahindra’s focus on occupant protection and crash resilience.

Battery Resilience Testing

Mahindra went beyond conventional crash tests by demonstrating the battery safety of the XEV 9e through several rigorous experiments:

  • Nail Penetration Test: A live battery cell withstood penetration without catastrophic failure.
  • Fire Resistance Test: The battery retained its integrity under intense heat.
  • Crush Test: A 22-tonne truck driven over the battery caused no damage, emphasizing its durability.
