Volvo has announced the launch of its new electric SUV, the EX90, in India on 18 August 2026. This model will be Volvo's second electric vehicle in the country, following the EC40 and the EX30. The EX90 will serve as the brand's flagship electric SUV for the Indian market.

The Volvo EX90 draws some inspiration from the XC90 but introduces several unique design elements. The SUV features a sleeker pair of LED daytime running lights in the signature 'Thor's Hammer' style. It also includes vertically stacked LED headlamps, a blanked-off grille with the Volvo logo, and 20-inch wheels. Other notable features are an integrated spoiler, Volvo lettering on the tailgate, C-shaped LED taillights that extend into the tailgate, and vertically positioned light elements on either side of the windshield.

Inside, the 2026 Volvo EX90 offers a range of advanced features. The SUV comes equipped with Level 3 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 14.5-inch vertically-mounted touchscreen infotainment system, and a nine-inch digital instrument cluster. It also features a 13.2-inch head-up display, four-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, and a panoramic sunroof. Additional amenities include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, over-the-air (OTA) updates, powered front seats, a wireless phone charger, and a Bose music system. The EX90 is available internationally in four-, six-, and seven-seat configurations.

Battery Options and Performance

Globally, the Volvo EX90 is offered with two battery pack options. The larger 106kWh battery is paired with an all-wheel-drive, dual-motor setup. This configuration delivers up to 680bhp and 780Nm of torque, with a claimed range of up to 608km on a single charge. The 92kWh battery is available with a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor setup. It produces 333bhp and 480Nm of torque, offering a claimed range of 565km per charge.

The Volvo EX90's introduction will expand the brand's electric vehicle lineup in India. It combines advanced safety systems, modern technology, and multiple seating options to cater to a wide range of customers.
