Tata Punch Achieves 800,000 Sales Milestone in Under Five Years
2026 Tata Punch

The Tata Punch has reached a significant milestone by surpassing 800,000 units in domestic sales. This achievement comes less than five years after its launch in October 2021. The compact SUV reached the 700,000-unit mark in early February 2026 and added another 100,000 units in just five months. This rapid growth is driven by strong demand for the facelifted 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and CNG models, as well as the introduction of the new Punch EV.

Market Impact and Segment Performance

The Tata Punch has set new benchmarks for compact SUVs in India. In August 2022, it became the first SUV in India to reach 100,000 wholesale units in just 10 months. The journey from 400,000 to 500,000 units took six months, while reaching 600,000 units took 11 months. The last 100,000 units were sold in just five months, making the Punch the fastest compact SUV to reach 800,000 sales.

In comparison, the Maruti Brezza took 80 months to reach the same milestone. The Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue have also crossed significant sales numbers, with 1,092,239 and 812,997 units, respectively. In Q1 FY2027, the Punch accounted for 32% of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle dispatches, helping the company surpass Mahindra & Mahindra in sales.

With 60,321 units sold in the first quarter of FY2027 and strong bookings across all variants, the Tata Punch is on track to achieve 200,000 and 250,000 units in a single fiscal year for the first time.
