Revolutionary Concepts Take Center Stage at Auto Expo 2024
Maruti Suzuki, one of India's leading automobile manufacturers, made waves at the Vibrant Gujarat event by unveiling not only an updated prototype of its eVX concept but also an ambitious flying car project. The carmaker's futuristic showcase demonstrates a significant step toward innovative and sustainable transportation solutions.
1. Maruti Suzuki eVX
The spotlight of the event was on the updated prototype of the Maruti Suzuki eVX, an all-electric SUV assured to hit the market later this year. Built on its earlier debuts at the Auto Expo 2023 and the Japan Mobility Show in 2023, the eVX's latest renewal boasts of some subtle yet crucial updates. The production-ready model is expected to be similar in size to the Grand Vitara, signalling that Maruti Suzuki is nearing the final stages of production.

The eVX will be underpinned by an innovative electric vehicle architecture, providing a spacious cabin with a wheelbase of around 2,700 mm. As Maruti Suzuki's first-ever all-electric car, the eVX will play a pivotal role in the brand's product strategy, offering a remarkable range of approximately 550 kilometers on a single charge, courtesy of its 60 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
2. SkyDrive Partnership: Maruti Suzuki Ventures into the Skies
In a bold move, Maruti Suzuki announced its partnership with the Japanese startup SkyDrive to develop the 'Skycar,' a multi-rotor aircraft designed for use as a flying car in India. This collaboration aims to bring an all-electric flying taxi service, addressing the challenges of urban transport where constructing airports is impractical.

The Skycar concept presented at Vibrant Gujarat showcased the aircraft's ability to take off and land on building rooftops, showcasing Maruti Suzuki's commitment to exploring groundbreaking transportation solutions. This push into the flying car technology aligns with the brand's vision for a sustainable and interconnected future.
3. eVX Production Nearing: A Sneak Peek into Maruti Suzuki's Electric Era
As the eVX electric SUV is inches closer to production, Maruti Suzuki aims to deliver not only an environmentally conscious vehicle but also a technologically advanced driving experience. With a length of 4,300 mm, similar to the Grand Vitara, and a dedicated electric vehicle platform, the eVX promises to be the most spacious Maruti Suzuki SUV yet.
The vibrant display at Vibrant Gujarat serves as a testament to Maruti Suzuki's commitment to innovation, assisting in a new era of electric and airborne mobility. As the automotive industry embraces a sustainable future, Maruti Suzuki's ventures into the electric and flying car technologies marks a significant step towards shaping the next generation of transportation in India.
