Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated Maybach S-Class, two months after the S-Class facelift. The new Maybach S-Class features similar visual and technology upgrades, along with exclusive design elements and expanded customisation options. Key changes include a larger grille, illuminated details, and significant updates under the bonnet.
Key Highlights
- Mercedes-Maybach S-Class facelift receives larger grille and new lighting features
- New interior options include vegan upholstery and advanced AI-driven technology
- S 580 V8 upgraded to 537hp while S 680 offers up to 630hp depending on market
- Maybach S-Class facelift expected to launch in India in early 2027
Exterior and Interior Enhancements

The Maybach S-Class adopts the S-Class facelift’s exterior changes, but adds Maybach-specific touches. The grille is now 20 percent larger and features vertical slats with an illuminated 'Maybach' wordmark. LED illumination frames the grille, and an illuminated Mercedes star sits on the bonnet. New headlamps use Mercedes’ Digital Light technology, with rose gold embellishments and the Maybach logo replacing blue accents.
The lower air dams in the bumpers display a mesh pattern made of Maybach logos, similar to the Maybach GLS and SL. The Maybach S-Class is 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class, making its extended profile clear. New forged alloy wheels in 20- and 21-inch sizes use a manufacturing technique for intricate multi-spoke designs. These wheels feature a counterweighted Mercedes logo that remains upright while driving. The D-pillar now has an illuminated Maybach logo, and the tail-lamps carry the triple-three-pointed star LED signature.
Mercedes offers more exterior shades and two-tone combinations, reflecting customer preferences. Inside, buyers can select extended leather upholstery, including new shades and a vegan leather-free option. The dashboard features a 'Superscreen' glass panel, with a unique Maybach graphical theme in rose gold. The Maybach drive mode returns, offering even softer suspension for comfort.
Technology and Powertrain Updates

The Maybach S-Class receives the same AI-driven technology as the S-Class facelift. This includes a conversational assistant that integrates ChatGPT, Bing, and Gemini. The car uses a new E&E architecture with four 'supercomputers' managing screens, safety, and driving dynamics. Rear passengers benefit from seats that recline to 43 degrees, heated, ventilated, and massaging functions, and two individual smartphone remotes for controls.
The Maybach Night Series S-Class debuts as a dark edition, featuring darker paint, dark chrome, and unique black wheels with Maybach logos. The S 580 V8 remains the core model, now upgraded to the 'M177 Evo' engine with a flat-plane crank, producing 537hp and 750Nm. Some markets offer the S 580e PHEV, combining a 3.0-litre inline-six with a 163hp electric motor and 22kWh battery, delivering 585hp, 750Nm, and up to 98km electric-only range.
The top-spec S 680 varies by market. In the US and UAE, it retains a 6.0-litre V12 engine with 630hp and 900Nm. Most other markets, including India, are expected to receive a 612hp, 850Nm version of the S 580’s 4.0-litre V8. Mercedes may offer the V12 in right-hand-drive markets as a CBU import.
India Launch and Pricing
The Maybach S-Class facelift is expected to launch in India in early 2027, following the standard S-Class. The Maybach S 580 is likely to be assembled locally, but with added technology, its price may exceed Rs 3 crore.
