Key Highlights

  • Renault Duster starts at Rs 10.49 lakh undercutting Honda Elevate by Rs 1.10 lakh
  • Duster offers more features and engine options including turbo petrol and upcoming hybrid
  • Both SUVs come with Level 2 ADAS and advanced safety features

Pricing and Variant Comparison

The entry-level Renault Duster is priced nearly Rs 1.10 lakh lower than the base Honda Elevate. However, the Elevate’s top variant costs Rs 16.57 lakh, which is over Rs 2 lakh less than the Duster’s highest trim. Honda Elevate may also be available with discounts due to lower sales volumes, so buyers should check with local dealerships for current offers.

Dimensions and Design Options

The Duster is larger than the Elevate in length and width. It is also 51 mm taller, which improves its road presence. The wheelbase difference is minimal, with the Duster edging out the Elevate by 7 mm. Renault offers six monotone color options for the Duster, while Honda provides seven for the Elevate. The Duster’s palette includes vibrant colors like Green, Red, and Blue. Honda’s Elevate offers more greyscale shades and a Bold ADV Edition with orange accents and decals. The Duster features an Iconic Launch Edition with blacked-out alloys and yellow highlights. The Elevate’s Signature Black Edition includes blacked-out alloy wheels, roof rails, door handles, and an all-black interior.

The Duster stands out with exclusive features such as a powered tailgate, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate control. The Elevate counters with a superior 8-speaker audio system and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. Both SUVs offer a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Google OS, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite. The Duster also provides a 360-degree camera, all-wheel disc brakes, rain-sensing wipers, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold for enhanced safety.

Engine and Performance Options

The Duster offers two turbo-petrol engine options. A 1.8-litre strong-hybrid variant is expected later in the year. The Elevate is powered by a single 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The Duster’s base 1-litre engine produces less power than the Elevate but delivers higher torque. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine in the Duster offers stronger performance. Honda’s CVT transmission provides smooth and refined operation, making it suitable for relaxed driving.

Conclusion

The Renault Duster offers a wider range of features, more engine options, and a larger footprint. The Honda Elevate focuses on simplicity, practicality, and affordability. Buyers should weigh their priorities between performance and value when choosing between these two SUVs.
