Renault Triber to Get Turbo-Petrol Engine in Next Generation by 2026-27
Renault will introduce a turbo-petrol engine for the next-generation Triber in India by late 2026 or early 2027. The engine, borrowed from the Kiger, will offer 99bhp and 160Nm, addressing customer demand for more power.

Renault is preparing to introduce a turbo-petrol engine for the Triber in India. The current Triber, which received a facelift last year, starts at Rs. 6.29 lakh (ex-showroom). While the facelift brought several updates to the model, it did not include the much-requested turbo-petrol engine.
Key Highlights
- Renault Triber facelift launched last year at Rs 6.29 lakh ex-showroom
- Turbo-petrol engine with 99bhp and 160Nm to be borrowed from Kiger
- Next-generation Triber expected by late 2026 or early 2027
Turbo-Petrol Engine Details
The upcoming turbo-petrol engine will be sourced from the Renault Kiger. This engine is expected to deliver 99bhp of power and 160Nm of torque. The new Triber will likely offer both a five-speed manual transmission and a CVT automatic option, similar to the Kiger.
The current generation of the Triber cannot accommodate the turbo-petrol engine. Therefore, Renault will introduce this engine with the next-generation Triber. The company has not provided an official launch date for the new model.
Expected Launch Timeline
Industry sources suggest that the next-generation Triber will arrive in India towards the end of 2026 or early 2027. The new model will be based on Renault’s updated platform. The turbo-petrol Triber will be part of Renault’s plan to have seven products on sale in India by 2030.
Market Strategy and Outlook
The addition of the turbo-petrol engine addresses a key demand from Indian customers. Since the Triber’s original launch in 2019, buyers have requested a more powerful engine option. Renault aims to strengthen its position in the Indian market with this update.
The next-generation Triber with the turbo-petrol engine will compete with other compact MPVs and crossovers. It will offer more choices for customers seeking performance and versatility in this segment.
