Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar), based in Gurugram, has achieved two major production milestones. The company announced on April 7, 2026, that it has produced 500 million differential gears and 10 million differential assemblies since its founding in 1995. These achievements reflect increasing global demand for its driveline components across both electric and conventional vehicle platforms.

Production Milestones and Growth

Sona Comstar’s global market share in differential gears reached an estimated 8.7% in calendar year 2025. This figure nearly doubles its 2019 share of 4.5%. The company supplies differential assemblies, precision-forged differential gears, and other driveline components to manufacturers of battery electric vehicles, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and off-highway vehicles.
The pace of production has accelerated over the years. Sona Comstar reached 100 million gears in 2013 and 200 million in early 2018. The next 100 million gears were produced in three years, and the 400 million mark was reached within two and a half years after that. The most recent 100 million gears were produced in less than two years.
Expansion and Manufacturing Facilities
The company began producing differential assemblies at its Gurugram plant in 2008. Production expanded to Pune in 2014, and a third facility opened in Manesar in 2019. Sona Comstar produced its one-millionth differential assembly in 2017 and reached 5 million assemblies by 2023. The next 5 million assemblies were produced in under three years.
Sona Comstar operates manufacturing and research and development facilities in India, the USA, Serbia, Mexico, and China. This global presence supports its ability to meet rising customer demand and adapt to changes in the automotive industry.
