The wait is over for all the chess fans, especially in a country like India where chess is booming. Now Chess one of the biggest events Global Chess League powered by Tech Mahindra is starting today. During the pandemic when the International Chess Olympiad was happening, India’s well-known businessman Mr Anand Mahindra has shown keen interest in the chess tournament.
Anand Mahindra had tweeted about the International Chess Olympiad and wanted to support this beautiful game of chess. As for the very long in India, we have seen Tata Steel promoting Indian chess from the very beginning and organising Tata Steel Chess Championship every year.
Mr Anand Mahindra has come forward to support this sport he formed a global chess event called “Tech Mahindra Global Chess League”.
We all know that India is filled with cricket fans and IPL is one of the biggest sports franchises in the world. Just like IPL, Tech Mahindra Global Chess League is also a team event in which 36 top grandmasters will participate.
There will be six teams in total, The six franchise teams are - Balan Alaskan Knights, Ganges Grandmasters, Chingari Gulf Titans, SG Alpine Warriors, Triveni Continental Kings and Upgrad Mumba Masters. and all top-class players from Magnus Carlsen, the current world championship Ding Liren, You Hifan and many more.
Yesterday Mr Anand Mahindra took a visit to the tournament venue where he met all the core team members who made this Global Chess League possible. During meet it was clearly visible that he is overwhelmed with the arrangement and excited for the Global Chess Tournament that about to take place today on June 21, 2023.

The inaugural edition of the Global Chess League, slated to commence on June 21, 2023, and conclude on July 2, 2023, heralds an extraordinary new chapter.
The riveting first season shall witness ten enthralling round-robin matches, pitting six teams against each other, with six skilled players in each team. Ultimately, the climax shall feature a gripping final match between the two most formidable teams, showcasing the pinnacle of chess excellence.
