Tracker 400: Design and Visual Appeal

The Tracker 400 introduces a design language that stands apart from Triumph’s existing 400cc offerings. Inspired by flat-track racers, it features a clean and distinctive shape rather than an aggressive or bulky stance. It comes with a boxy fuel tank, number-board-style side panel, a small flyscreen, and a seat cowl with matching colour. From the rear, the bike looks compact with LED tail lamps, and the seat appears to be shared with the Thruxton 400.

Moreover, the Triumph Tracker 400 design specification list includes a flat seat, round headlamp, upswept exhaust, round rear-view mirrors, and a wide, slightly lowered handlebar setup, offering riders a commanding and upright riding posture. The bike will be offered in three colour schemes, which include Aluminium Silver, Racing Yellow, and Phantom Black.

Familiar Engine and Powertrain

Tracker 400 Engine

Under the minimalist bodywork sits the familiar 398cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder TR-series engine, but with a slightly different character. The engine is capable of generating 42 PS and 37 Nm of power and torque, respectively. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and comes equipped with a slip and assist clutch for smooth shifts and a stress-free ride. It feels like Triumph has tuned this engine to strike a fine balance between usability and fun.

Features, Safety and Ride Hardware

Despite its minimalist styling, the Tracker 400 doesn’t compromise on essentials. Features like dual-channel ABS, traction control, LED lighting, and a semi-digital instrument cluster ensure it meets modern expectations. The fuel tank capacity and claimed efficiency further strengthen its case as a practical everyday motorcycle. Braking duties are managed by disc brakes at both ends 300 mm at the front and 230 mm at the rear providing sharp stopping performance.

The Tracker 400 weighs 3 kg more than the UK-spec Speed 400, tipping the scales at 173 kg. It comes with a 13-litre fuel tank and promises a mileage of around 28 kmpl. Suspension duties are handled by 43 mm USD big-piston front forks offering 140 mm of wheel travel, paired with a rear monoshock that provides 130 mm of travel, striking a balance between comfort and control.
