Ronin Cafe Racer Design Patent
TVS showcased a custom-built Ronin Cafe Racer in December 2024. While no official launch date was announced, TVS has now filed a design patent for the Ronin Cafe Racer. This move suggests the company may expand the Ronin range to attract more motorcycle enthusiasts.
The Ronin Cafe Racer is based on the standard Ronin platform but features several distinct design elements. It includes sportier graphics and a more aggressive appearance. A swept-back visor fully integrates the headlamp, providing both wind deflection and protection from debris. The bike also features low-set clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs, creating a committed riding posture.
A quarter fairing adds to the bike’s retro appeal, while the curvy design gives a sense of motion even when stationary. The Cafe Racer uses an upswept, stubby-style exhaust, different from the standard model. It has a slim, single seat with an integrated rear cowl, which may feature track-style numbering in production models. Race-focused tyres and a centrally-positioned circular instrument cluster further distinguish the Cafe Racer variant.
Technical Specifications and Features

The Ronin Cafe Racer shares key components with the standard model. It uses a 225.9cc, single-cylinder, SOHC, oil-cooled engine that produces 20.4 PS and 19.93 Nm of torque. The engine pairs with a 5-speed transmission and includes an assist and slipper clutch.
Both models feature 17-inch wheels, 300 mm front and 240 mm rear disc brakes, and a double cradle frame. The suspension setup includes 41 mm USD front forks and a monoshock rear suspension with 7-step adjustable preload. The base variant offers single-channel ABS, while mid and top variants have dual-channel ABS. ABS modes include Rain and Urban for added safety.
TVS may introduce exclusive color options and graphics for the Cafe Racer. While the engine remains the same, minor tweaks could adjust riding dynamics. The aggressive riding posture, stickier tyres, and improved weight distribution may enhance performance. A stiffer suspension could improve cornering and high-speed stability.
Market Outlook
Filing a design patent does not guarantee production, but it signals TVS’s intent to diversify the Ronin lineup. Offering multiple body styles could help TVS capture a larger share of the 200cc–250cc motorcycle segment. The Ronin Cafe Racer’s unique design and features position it as a strong contender in this market.
