The Virtus GT Line and Virtus GT Plus Sport are the two new Virtus sedan grades that Volkswagen has added to its lineup. Volkswagen has introduced the Taigun GT Line and GT Plus Sport to the sedan market in April 2024 with the goal of increasing sales before the holiday season. The premium amenities and aggressive styling are anticipated to draw Indian automobile customers, increasing the Virtus' allure.
Pricing and Engine Options
The pricing for the new Virtus variants is competitive.
- The VW Virtus GT Line starts from ₹14.07 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 6-speed manual variant.
- The Virtus GT Plus Sport is priced from ₹17.84 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 6-speed manual version.
Volkswagen had first teased a black-themed Virtus concept in March 2024 at their Annual Brand Conference, which set the stage for the launch of these sportier variants.
Engine Specifications and Features
The VW Virtus GT Line is equipped with a 1.0L TSI petrol engine, offering both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Key features include an electric sunroof, an 8-inch digital cockpit, a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlights.
The Virtus GT Plus Sport is powered by a more robust 1.5L TSI EVO petrol engine, available with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission. Notable additions include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an amplifier and subwoofer for an enhanced audio experience, an 8-inch digital cockpit, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, auto headlights, and rain-sensing wipers.
Highline Plus Trim for Virtus and Taigun
Volkswagen has also introduced a new Highline Plus trim for both the Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV. This trim level extends the features of the Highline variant and follows the company’s “More for Less” philosophy.
- Virtus Highline Plus starts at ₹13.87 lakh (ex-showroom) for the manual variant.
Taigun Highline Plus is priced at ₹14.26 lakh (ex-showroom) for the manual version.
Both models in the Highline Plus trim are powered by a 1.0L TSI petrol engine, continuing Volkswagen's focus on efficient and powerful driving experiences.
