Volkswagen has launched the facelifted Taigun, with the GT Plus trim continuing as the top-spec variant. The GT Plus is available in two cosmetic versions: Chrome and Sport. Both share the same powertrains and features, but differ in exterior and interior design. The GT Plus Sport variant costs Rs 30,000 more than the Chrome version due to its unique styling elements.
Key Highlights
- Volkswagen Taigun facelift GT Plus available in Chrome and Sport variants
- GT Plus Sport variant costs Rs 30000 more than Chrome due to cosmetic changes
- Both variants share the same 1.5-litre engine and 7-speed DCT transmission
- Feature and safety equipment are identical across both GT Plus variants
Key Differences: Chrome and Sport Variants
The GT Plus Chrome variant uses chrome inserts on the exterior, while the GT Plus Sport replaces these with blacked-out elements. At the front, the GT Plus Chrome features LED headlamps, connected LED DRLs, an illuminated Volkswagen logo, and a thick black strip above the bumper with chrome strips. The bumper houses a chrome skid plate. The GT Plus Sport variant has blacked-out skid plates and grille strips, giving it a sportier appearance. Both variants display the red GT badge on the grille.
On the side, both variants have the same GT badging, wheel arches, cladding, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The GT Plus Chrome offers dual-tone alloys, a chrome window line, and chrome roof rail inserts. The GT Plus Sport features blacked-out versions of these elements. At the rear, the GT Plus Chrome includes connected LED tail lamps in a gloss black housing, a roof spoiler, chrome Taigun lettering, a thin chrome bumper strip, and a chrome skid plate. The GT Plus Sport keeps the same tail lamps and spoiler but uses blacked-out inserts on the tailgate and bumper.
Interior and Features Overview

Inside, the GT Plus Chrome has a dual-tone black and grey cabin with brushed aluminium finishes on the dashboard, steering wheel, and centre console. The GT Plus Sport replaces most brushed aluminium with gloss black elements, except for the steering wheel. The dashboard insert in the Sport variant is darker. The seat upholstery also differs: the Chrome variant uses dual-tone black and grey leatherette with off-white door padding, while the Sport variant features all-black leatherette and black padding. Both variants include GT badging, red contrast stitching, adjustable headrests, a front armrest with storage, and a rear centre armrest with cupholders.
Feature lists are identical. Both variants offer a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 6-speaker sound system with subwoofer, and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Additional features include 6-way powered front seats, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, push-button start/stop, auto headlamps, connected car technology, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, and a wireless phone charger.
Powertrain and Safety Details
Both GT Plus variants use a 1.5-litre engine paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. Lower Taigun variants offer a 115 PS 1-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine with 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic options. Safety features are the same for both GT Plus variants: 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, brake assist, hill start assist, parking sensors front and rear, rear fog lamps, rear defogger, rear wiper and washer, ISOFIX child seat anchors, auto-dimming IRVM, and a rear-view camera with static guidelines.
The main difference between the GT Plus Chrome and Sport variants is cosmetic. The choice depends on whether buyers prefer chrome accents or a sportier blacked-out look, with the Sport variant costing Rs 30,000 more.
