Coimbatore Facility Details
The new plant is located on Trichy Road in Coimbatore and covers approximately 39,000 square feet. It will handle assembly, storage, logistics, and related operations for electric scooters. The facility began operations immediately upon announcement and is set to serve markets in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and South Maharashtra.
The Coimbatore unit has an installed capacity of 60,000 units per year. In its initial phase, Zelio E-Mobility expects to manufacture and assemble between 24,000 and 30,000 electric two-wheelers annually. The company plans to gradually increase output as demand rises.
The plant currently employs 30 people directly. Zelio E-Mobility expects to add over 100 personnel in the coming months, supporting its target of surpassing 500 employees this financial year. The facility was established with a capital investment of up to Rs 1 crore. It will assemble electric two-wheeler models from the company’s existing product range. Details about upcoming models have not yet been disclosed.
Expansion and Regional Impact
With the addition of the Coimbatore facility, Zelio E-Mobility’s manufacturing network now includes plants in Ladwa (263,450 sq ft) and Patan (252,301 sq ft) in Haryana and Cuttack (30,500 sq ft) in Odisha. Before the Coimbatore plant, the company’s installed capacity was 180,000 units annually. The new facility increases this by 33 percent, reaching 240,000 units per year.
The company expects the Coimbatore plant to strengthen dealer penetration, improve after-sales service, and enhance supply chain efficiency in the region over the next 12 to 24 months. Zelio E-Mobility also anticipates that the facility will contribute to revenue growth and increased market share in southern India.
The company stated that the new facility follows the same manufacturing standards and quality protocols as its existing plants. Further updates on technology and sustainability initiatives are expected to be announced later.
