Great News for all bike enthusiasts, as BMW Mototrrad is about to launch the most awaited BMW R 1300 GS on June 13th. The new BMW R 1300 GS remains unmistakably a GS, yet it has evolved into a smaller, smoother, lighter, more agile, and refined version of its predecessor, the R 1250 GS. The choice of date is no coincidence, aligning perfectly with the ‘1300’ in its name, signifying one of the most significant releases of the year.
What to expect?
The new GS doesn't offer a completely different riding experience but enhances the versatility, making it a machine for more riders to enjoy in a wider range of situations. The R 1250 GS, which is renowned for its adaptability and practicality and provides one of the best adventure riding experience. Featuring a more powerful boxer engine, improved amenities, and a sleeker style, the R 1300 GS seeks to carry on this legacy.
Design and Build
Design-wise, the R 1300 GS retains the iconic BMW ‘GS’ look while adopting a more athletic stance. Beneath its refined exterior lies a robust sheet metal frame paired with a die-cast aluminium subframe. The hallmark BMW Telelever front suspension and Para lever rear suspension promise a ride that’s both comfortable and agile. We’re eager to confirm these claims when we take it for a spin in Ladakh on launch day.
Performance and Engine
This Bike comes with a new 1,300cc twin-cylinder engine, which is capable of delivering power of 145 bhp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Although the engine displacement is larger than the previous version but it offers more compact design. It has been possible because of the placement of gearbox under the engine. The bike is mated to a six-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth and responsive gear shifts.
Technology and Features
It comes with Four riding modes, traction control, ABS, a manually adjustable screen, LED lights and X-shaped running lights, heated grips, keyless ignition, hill hold control, two power outlets, and a lithium battery are all included as standard equipment.
Variants and Pricing
The BMW R 1300 GS will be available in three variants in India: Triple Black, GS Trophy, and the Option 719 Tramuntana. Official bookings are now open, with prices expected to range from Rs 22 lakh to Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom).
Rivals
In the competitive adventure bike market, the R 1300 GS will be pitted against heavyweights like the Ducati Multistrada V4, Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250, and Triumph Tiger 1200. As we await the official launch, one thing is clear – the BMW R 1300 GS is set to redefine the adventure riding landscape in India.
