It’s a legendary bike from Yamaha known for its superbike styling, advanced twin cylinder engine and ultra‑light chassis which makes the bike of choice of the customer. It was introduced as a response to the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM RC390. The Ninja 400 has made its debut, and the Honda CBR250RR and CBR300R are all giving it stiff competition globally. There are not too many technical changes to the 2018 R3 other than the update of BS4 emission norms. The new colour palate of blue and black and the addition of ABS made it value for money offer. However, like R15 V3 it doesn’t offer upside-down front forks or an all-digital instrument cluster. The engine on the other hand, has the sweet 41bhp, 321cc parallel-twin machine and the handling is so great that can bring any man to his knee. The YZF-R3 strongly competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Benelli 302R, and KTM RC390 in the domestic market. The Honda CBR250R is also a competitor. It was launched at a price of Rs 3.48 lakh and undercuts the Kawasaki Ninja 300 by Rs 12,000 by offering ABS along with higher peak power figure. It has a double-cylinder sports bike to beat in the Indian market.
