The car is equipped with two engine options, a 1.5l MPi petrol engine that is naturally aspirated and produces 115hp & 143.8 Nm, and a sportier 1.5 l Turbo GDi petrol engine that produces 160hp & 253 Nm.
The latter engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT transmission. The mileage figures for both engines are claimed to be 18.6 kmpl (MT) and 19.6 kmpl (IVT) for the former, and 20 kmpl(MT) and 20.6 kmpl (DCT) for the latter. The Verna will not be offered a diesel engine.

The turbo GDi engine also comes in two exclusive colour options, Atlas White with a black roof and Fiery Red with a black top. The Verna will be manufactured at Hyundai's Chennai plant and will be exported from India.
Safety Features of the New Hyundai Verna
