The Haute Voiture sports an exclusive two-tone paint job that features metallic nautical blue on top and rose gold underneath to ensure it is not confused with any other Maybach S680. The large monoblock wheels on it are painted the same shade of blue as the body. Although we believe the color combination to be extremely attractive, it's the kind of appearance that will probably cause controversy. Like, say, fashion.

Like the ordinary Maybach-branded S-class, the S680 special edition is obviously embellished with chrome exterior decoration and a large Mercedes-Benz hood ornament. The Haute Voiture, however, also has additional baggage—literally. That's because Maybach will also be selling a line of bags made of the same materials as the interior of the car. Additionally, only a few of the bags will be sold.

Similar to the Maybach S680, the Haute Voiture sports a large MBUX infotainment screen up front and two-passenger lounge seating in the back. Mercedes updates the MBUX system for the occasion with Haute Voiture-specific graphics, including rose gold highlights and "sparkling glitter clouds" (yes, really). Additionally, users have a choice of 12 different avatars dressed in designer clothing and fashionable accessories.

A sort of yarn-woven cloth is called bouclé. It has a very distinctive appearance and is used on the door panels, seats, and other interior surfaces of the Haute Voiture. Blue, beige, rose gold, and other gold tones are mixed throughout the pattern. The headliner also has a stylish pattern that would fit in well on a pricey purse. Along with a set of champagne flutes in rose gold, the car's cabin also includes a set of floor mats made of mohair, a yarn derived from goat hair.

High Fashion, High Power, High Price

The Haute Voiture has all-wheel drive and a 621-hp twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12, just like ordinary Maybach S680 cars. Given that the 496-hp Mercedes-Maybach S580 we tested reached 60 mph in 4.1 seconds with a V-8 engine, the much more potent V-12 version should do so in under 4 ticks. Putting acceleration times aside, the true measure of fashion is how the models appear as they make their way to the end of the catwalk.

The S680 Haute Voiture, which will be available for purchase in early 2023, will have a very small manufacturing run of only 150 pieces, like most items that are considered high fashion (also known as haute couture). Mercedes hasn't disclosed the pricing of this exclusive Maybach, but we anticipate a significant premium to be added to the normal S680's starting price of $230,050.
