Mahindra has established itself as a leader in vehicle safety in India, focusing on advanced safety features and high crash test ratings. The brand’s latest SUVs, including the XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx, Scorpio N, and XUV 7XO, showcase Mahindra’s commitment to occupant protection through robust engineering and modern technology.
Key Highlights
- Mahindra equips all new SUVs with Level-2 ADAS for enhanced safety
- XUV 3XO and XUV 7XO achieved 5-star Global NCAP safety ratings
- Scorpio-N also received a 5-star Global NCAP crash test rating
- Thar Roxx holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating
Mahindra’s Safety Innovations

Mahindra was the first Indian automaker to introduce Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in its vehicles. The XUV700, now known as the XUV 7XO, debuted this technology in 2021. ADAS uses cameras, radars, and sensors to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings and assist drivers in avoiding accidents. These systems help reduce driver fatigue and improve safety during long journeys and highway travel.
Currently, Mahindra equips all its modern SUVs, including the XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx, Scorpio N, and XUV 7XO, with Level-2 ADAS. The XUV 7XO offers the most comprehensive ADAS package among Mahindra’s lineup.
Key ADAS features available across these models include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition. These technologies work together to help drivers avoid potential hazards and maintain control in challenging conditions.
Comprehensive Safety Equipment

In addition to ADAS, Mahindra SUVs come with a wide range of active and passive safety features. Common equipment includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), rear parking sensors with a camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and all-wheel disc brakes on select models. Higher variants offer a 360-degree camera, connected car services, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and auto-dimming interior mirrors. These features provide an added layer of protection and boost driver confidence.
Mahindra’s focus on safety extends to the structural integrity of its vehicles. The company’s SUVs have consistently performed well in crash tests conducted by Global NCAP, which evaluates adult and child occupant protection, as well as the effectiveness of safety equipment. High scores in these tests reflect Mahindra’s engineering strength and commitment to real-world safety.
Crash Test Ratings and Industry Recognition
The XUV300, now sold as the XUV 3XO, was Mahindra’s first SUV to undergo Global NCAP testing. It achieved a 5-star safety rating, setting a benchmark in the compact SUV segment. The XUV700 (now XUV 7XO), launched in 2021, also received a full 5-star Global NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection. The Scorpio N matched this achievement, proving that rugged, ladder-on-frame SUVs can also deliver excellent crash protection.
Although the Thar Roxx has not yet been tested by Global NCAP, it has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, underlining Mahindra’s consistent focus on occupant safety across its SUV range.
Mahindra’s Ongoing Commitment
Mahindra’s reputation has evolved from being known for rugged vehicles and powerful engines to being recognized for top-tier safety. The brand’s SUV lineup, from the compact XUV 3XO to the luxurious XUV 7XO, maintains high safety standards. Strong body structures, advanced safety features, and high crash test ratings ensure a safe driving experience for all occupants. Mahindra continues to set a benchmark for safety in the Indian automotive market.
