BMW Motorrad has reintroduced the 2024 S 1000 XR to the Indian market, pricing the sport tourer at ₹ 22.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks a ₹ 40,000 increase from its previous price. The new model comes with several aesthetic upgrades and improved features.
The 2024 BMW S 1000 XR boasts new side panels towards the rear and a front fender painted in the body color. The bike is 10 mm higher than its predecessor and features a redesigned seat for enhanced comfort during long rides. Additional cosmetic updates include new color options and updated graphics.
Powering the 2024 BMW S 1000 XR is a revised 999 cc, inline four-cylinder engine with flow-optimized geometry. The engine produces 168 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm of peak torque at 9,250 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quickshifter. The bike offers four riding modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Dynamic Pro, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.25 seconds and reach a top speed of 253 kmph.
The bike is equipped with 320 mm twin disc brakes at the front and a 220 mm single disc at the rear. It also includes several electronic aids such as lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and cruise control. The seat height stands at 850 mm but can be adjusted with optional accessories. The seat itself is redesigned for both track riding and touring.
BMW Motorrad is offering the Touring package and Dynamics package as standard on the S 1000 XR.
Touring Package: Includes a luggage carrier, center stand, navigation device slot, hand protection, tire-pressure monitoring system, and heated grips.
Dynamics Package: Adds dynamic ESA pro, shift assistant pro, and cruise control.
An optional M package is available, featuring the Light White/M Motorsport paint scheme, M Sport seat, M lightweight battery, M forged wheels, M Endurance chain, M GPS-Laptrigger, tinted windscreen, black fuel filler cap, and a sports silencer. This package is priced at an additional ₹ 2.50 lakh.
The new BMW S 1000 XR is set to compete with the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak in its segment. Additionally, BMW has recently introduced the M-spec version of the S 1000 XR, the BMW M 1000 XR, which offers enhanced performance and is priced at ₹ 45 lakh (ex-showroom).
With these updates, the 2024 BMW S 1000 XR aims to provide a comprehensive sport touring experience for riders in India.
