The iconic KTM 250 Duke is back for 2024 with fresh upgrades. Known for its aggressive style and performance, KTM has gently launched this revised version to keep it competitive in the market. This is an extensive look of the new 250 Duke's features, cost, and powertrain details.
Pricing Details
The 2024 250 Duke has been quietly introduced by KTM in India, with a starting price of Rs 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom). The Bajaj Dominar 250 and other competitors are more competitive now that this model has a few more features than its predecessor, which is reflected in the minor price increase.
With just a few thousand rupees separating the new model from the previous one, the price difference is still rather small.
Engine and Performance
The 2024 KTM 250 Duke still runs on the same tried-and-tested 248cc DOHC 4-valve, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 29.5 bhp of peak power and 25 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip and assist clutch for smooth gear transitions.
Updated Features
The 2024 KTM 250 Duke brings a range of updates to its feature list, most notably:
5-inch Color TFT Display
Borrowed from the KTM 390 Duke and now also featured in the 200 Duke, this bonded glass TFT dashboard adds a premium touch, replacing the previous LCD unit. The TFT screen supports Bluetooth connectivity, enabling music control and navigation via a dedicated smartphone app.
4-Way Menu Controls: The left-side switchgear now houses 4-way menu controls, making it easier for riders to interact with the advanced display.
LED DRLs: Another significant upgrade is the addition of LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) similar to those seen in the KTM 390 Duke, which enhance the bike’s design and road presence.
Unchanged Components
While the updates focus on rider convenience and aesthetics, much of the mechanical hardware remains the same:
- Suspension and Braking: The 2024 KTM 250 Duke continues to use USD telescopic front forks and an off-set mono-shock rear suspension. The braking system includes single-disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS for added safety.
- Wheels and Swingarm: It retains its 17-inch alloy wheels and the distinctive banana-shaped swingarm. Additionally, the underbelly exhaust contributes to its sporty character.
Final Thoughts
The new 250 Duke continues KTM’s strategy of gradual improvements without a drastic overhaul. The updates, especially in the features department, make it an even more attractive option for riders looking for a tech-forward, high-performance motorcycle in the sub-300cc segment. With the festive season ahead, this launch could help KTM further strengthen its market presence.
