Audi has confirmed the launch of the RS 5 sedan in India. The RS 5, revealed globally in Avant and Saloon forms in February 2026, will arrive as a completely built unit (CBU). Audi will import only the sedan version, not the Avant, to the Indian market. The company has also removed the previous-generation S5 Sportback from its India website.

- Hybrid powertrain offers 639hp and 825Nm combined output
- Electric-only range exceeds 80km with a 25.9 kWh battery
- 0-100kph acceleration in 3.6 seconds claimed by Audi

Key Specifications and Performance

The Audi RS 5 is the brand’s first hybridised RS model. It uses a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 510hp and 600Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system, which adds 177hp and 460Nm. Combined, the RS 5 delivers a total output of 639hp and 825Nm. The car uses an 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and a limited-slip centre differential. This system can send up to 70 percent of torque to the front axle or up to 85 percent to the rear axle, depending on driving conditions.
The RS 5’s electric motor is powered by a 25.9 kWh battery. Audi claims an electric-only range of over 80km. The battery can be fully charged in 2.5 hours using an 11kW charger. According to Audi, the RS 5 can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 3.6 seconds.
Design and Features
The RS 5 features a large honeycomb grille, flanked by smaller air intakes on the bumper. It comes with smoked Matrix LED headlights and a checkered-flag daytime running light (DRL) design. Audi has widened the RS 5 by 4cm on each side compared to the base A5. The car also features flared wheel arches, 20-inch rims, and RS steel brakes with 420mm front and 400mm rear discs as standard. Optional features on the UK-spec model include 21-inch wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes with 440mm front and 410mm rear discs.
The sedan has a fastback-like sloping roof, while the Avant version also features a sharply raked rear windscreen. Both variants have connected OLED taillights similar to the third-generation B10 A5. The rear diffuser is finished in gloss black and houses two large oval tailpipes, part of a new RS exhaust system designed to match each driving mode.
Interior and Equipment

Inside, the RS 5 offers a triple-screen setup as standard. This includes an 11.9-inch digital driver’s display, a 14.5-inch OLED central infotainment system, and a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger. Climate controls are integrated into the infotainment screen, but the 3-spoke steering wheel retains physical buttons and scrollers. The steering wheel also includes dedicated controls for RS drive modes and a boost mode, which provides maximum acceleration for 10 seconds.
The cabin features an all-black theme with red accents and ambient lighting. Seats have red piping, and surfaces like the dashboard, door pads, and armrests are upholstered in Dinamica suede. The steering wheel is wrapped in Nappa leather. International models come with heated, powered bucket seats with a massage function. Seat ventilation and a sunroof are available as options.
Expected Launch and Pricing
The RS 5 sedan is expected to arrive in India this year. As a CBU import, it will likely be priced around Rs 1.50 crore. This is significantly higher than the last recorded price of the S5 Sportback, which was Rs 73.57 lakh before its removal from Audi India’s website. Audi is also preparing to launch other models in India, including the third-generation Q3, Q5, Q6 e-tron, and A6 e-tron.
