Quarterly Performance and Market Share

Bajaj Auto reported record financial results for the April-June period. Revenue from operations increased 37% year-on-year to Rs 17,244 crore. Profit after tax rose 42% to Rs 2,983 crore. EBITDA grew 45% to Rs 3,596 crore, and the EBITDA margin improved to 20.9% from 19.7% a year earlier.

The company sold a record 1.44 million vehicles during the quarter, marking a 29% increase from the previous year. Total two-wheeler sales reached 1.22 million units, up 29%. Commercial vehicle sales rose 33% to 215,699 units. Domestic two-wheeler volumes grew 11%, while exports surged 52%, resulting in the company’s highest-ever quarterly export volumes.

Product Strategy and Portfolio Plans

Bajaj Auto’s current 125-160cc portfolio includes motorcycles under the Pulsar and Freedom brands. The company stated that recent product interventions in the Pulsar range helped it gain market share. Pulsar, Avenger, and Dominar all achieved double-digit year-on-year growth, with the sports segment growing by about 50%.

The automaker said upcoming upgrades across its 125-160 cc motorcycles are expected to further improve their competitive positions. Bajaj Auto’s annual report noted a sharpened focus on the domestic 125cc-plus motorcycle segment for the current financial year. The company is also accelerating the growth of its Chetak electric scooter business and the KTM and Triumph premium motorcycle brands.

Expansion and Future Initiatives

Bajaj Auto plans to expand exports despite challenges such as geopolitical tensions, commodity inflation, and supply chain disruptions. The company will also increase manufacturing capacity for its electric vehicle and premium motorcycle portfolios. It is developing alternative materials and supply sources and aims to restore KTM to sustainable financial performance.

The company did not disclose specific models or a timeline for the planned upgrades in the 125-160cc segment. Bajaj Auto continues to focus on product innovation and operational expansion to maintain growth momentum in both domestic and international markets.
