Bajaj Auto is all set to introduce a new variant of its e-scooter, Chetak. The brand will be adding a new and more budget-friendly variant in its lineup. The recently leaked images of the upcoming e-scooter has provided a sneak into what the new iteration from Bajaj has to offer the buyers. Chetak is known for its decent design, advanced features and impressive ranges.
Cosmetic Alterations and Cost-Efficient Features
While maintaining the iconic silhouette, Bajaj has made strategic alterations to the equipment roster to align with the pricing strategy of the forthcoming variant. Notable changes include the incorporation of steel wheels paired with drum brakes, departing from the alloy wheels and disc brakes featured in current models. Additionally, the traditional key slot makes a return, eschewing the keyless entry system for a more conventional approach.
Furthermore, the variant is set to embrace a monochrome display, reminiscent of its 2020 iteration, veering away from the colored LCD present in the existing models. The glove box, a hallmark of Chetak's design, undergoes modification with the introduction of dual open cubbies, a cost-saving measure that enhances practicality while trimming expenses.
Potential Powertrain Adjustments
While specifics regarding the powertrain adjustments remain undisclosed, speculation suggests a potential reduction in performance to optimize range. Notably, this variant eschews the hub motor present in its counterparts, prompting curiosity regarding its anticipated performance metrics. It is anticipated that the variant will inherit the 2.9 kWh battery pack from the Chetak Urbane, promising an impressive IDC range of 113km.

Expected Price
With the Premium variant priced at Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and the Urbane variant at Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), expectations loom that the forthcoming variant will debut at a price point below the Urbane variant, enhancing accessibility for consumers seeking an entry point into electric mobility.
Anticipated Launch
Enthusiasts eager to embrace the affordability and practicality of the forthcoming variant can anticipate its official launch slated for May, specifically May 3rd, entering in a new era of accessibility in the electric scooter market.
CarBike360 Says
The leaked images offer a glimpse into Bajaj's endeavour to democratise electric mobility, introducing a more budget-friendly variant of the Chetak without compromising its quintessential charm and functionality. As anticipation mounts, all eyes are on Bajaj Auto as it prepares to unveil its latest addition to the Chetak family.
