BMW Motorrad has temporarily halted bookings for the F450GS motorcycle across India, citing high demand. This decision comes even before the start of deliveries, as the first batches allotted to India have already been fully booked. The next booking window is expected to open around September or October 2026.

Key Highlights

  • BMW F450GS bookings paused in India due to high demand
  • The waiting period in Mumbai and Bengaluru has reached up to one year
  • Next booking window expected around September or October 2026
  • Production at the TVS Hosur facility may be a factor in delays

Current Waiting Periods Across Cities

Before bookings were paused, waiting periods for the BMW F450GS were already significant. In Mumbai and Bengaluru, dealers reported waiting times of up to a year. In other cities such as Kolkata and Hyderabad, the waiting period ranged from six to eight months. This trend indicates sustained demand for the motorcycle in major urban centers.

Customers who booked the F450GS between November and December last year are expected to receive their motorcycles starting next month. However, new buyers may have to wait close to a year, even after the next booking window opens later in 2026. After bookings resume, the waiting period is expected to remain between six and eight months in most cities.

Production and Supply Factors

The extended waiting periods may point to either high demand or production constraints at TVS's Hosur facility, where the BMW F450GS is manufactured. Another motorcycle produced at the same plant is also experiencing long waiting times, suggesting possible capacity limitations or prioritization of exports to international markets. It remains unclear whether production challenges or export commitments are the primary cause of the delays.

BMW Motorrad has not provided specific details regarding the reasons for the long waiting periods. The company continues to monitor the situation and will update customers as more information becomes available.

CarBike 360 Says

The temporary pause in BMW F450GS bookings reflects the model’s strong appeal among Indian riders seeking a capable mid-weight adventure motorcycle. While the extended waiting period may disappoint some buyers, it also highlights the bike’s success in the segment. Prospective customers can expect bookings to resume once supply stabilizes and delivery timelines improve.
