BMW Introduces 520d M Sport at Rs 68.90 Lakh, Discontinues 530d
Removing the top-of-the-line M5 Competition from its website, BMW has eliminated the 3.0-litre diesel engine option from the 5 Series lineup.

BMW India has made changes to its BMW 5 Series model range by introducing a new variant and discontinuing some of the existing ones. The company has launched the 520d in M Sport variant, which is priced at Rs 68.90 lakh and has removed the 520d Luxury Line and the limited-edition 50 Jahre Edition from the lineup.
In a more significant move, BMW has removed the 3.0-litre diesel engine option from the 5 Series lineup and has also removed the range-topping M5 Competition from its website. However, the petrol 530i M Sport remains in the lineup, with no changes in pricing at Rs 65.40 lakh. Following the variant reorganization, the luxury sedan is now only available with four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
What's New in the BMW 520d M Sport?
The 520d M Sport, which has replaced the discontinued Luxury Line, has a more dynamic appearance with a sporty exterior design that includes aggressive front and rear bumpers. It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome exhaust pipes, and M-specific features like blue brake callipers and M badges on the fenders.
Inside the car, the 520d M Sport features M-badged door sills and an M-spec leather steering wheel. It also comes with some additional equipment compared to the now-discontinued Luxury Line, such as BMW's Laserlight technology. The car's other notable features include a heads-up display, a Harman Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera, and wireless phone charging.
The powertrain of the 520d M Sport remains unchanged, as it is still equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 190 horsepower, coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
BMW 520d M Sport: Competitors
Competing against the Audi A6, Lexus ES, Volvo S90, Jaguar XF, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the BMW 5 Series faces a limited range of diesel engine options. Among its rivals, only the Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E-Class offer a diesel engine. This makes the Jaguar XF D200 and Mercedes-Benz E220d direct competitors to the 520d M Sport.
