Renault Duster Authentic Base Variant Arrives in Showrooms: Key Features and Details

The Renault Duster Authentic base variant has reached showrooms across India. This entry-level model comes with a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakh. It offers essential features, a robust safety package, and practical design. The Duster is available in six trims: Authentic, Evolution, Techno, Techno+, Iconic, and Iconic Launch Edition. The base variant is offered in three colour options: Moonlight Silver, Stealth Black, and Pearl White.

Exterior and Design Features

The Duster Authentic base variant features Eco LED headlamps and top-mounted LED DRLs with integrated turn signals. The front grille displays DUSTER badging and a blacked-out skid plate. Glossy black accents near the grille add a sporty touch. Automatic headlamps and a follow-me-home function are included. However, the base variant does not have front parking sensors or fog lamps.

The side profile shows 17-inch blacked-out steel wheels with 225-section tyres, flared wheel arches, and body cladding. The C-pillar houses the rear door handles. The Renault logo and badging are visible on the front door. Braking is handled by front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Ground clearance stands at 212 mm for all variants. The ORVMs are electrically adjustable and manually foldable with integrated turn indicators. The base variant lacks roof rails, a sunroof, and a shark fin antenna.

At the rear, the Duster Authentic features LED tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and four reverse parking sensors. There is no reverse parking camera. The connected tail lamp design is cosmetic, not functional. The base variant does not have a rear washer, wiper, or defogger. The boot offers up to 700 litres of storage without a parcel tray, and 518 litres with one. There is no spare wheel; a tyre puncture repair kit is provided instead.

Interior and Safety Equipment

Inside, the Duster Authentic base variant offers all-four power windows with one-touch up and down, fabric seats, and a front armrest. The driver’s seat is height adjustable. Other features include manual air conditioning, tilt and telescopic steering, and a 7-inch TFT driver display. The base variant does not include any infotainment system.

Safety features are comprehensive for the segment. The Duster Authentic base variant includes six airbags, electronic stability program, traction control system, cornering stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Engine and Performance

The Duster Authentic base variant uses a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It produces 100 PS and 166 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine is E20 fuel compliant. Higher trims offer a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine with 163 PS and 280 Nm, and options for a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DCT with e-shifter.
